Albus Dumbledore looked around. No one else was outside. He had felt that here was a reason to do this right now, and he was sure that his instinct was right. It always was.
He hummed to himself as he removed his outer robe and hid it behind a nearby bush before sliding into the cold lake waters. He kicked towards the depths of the lake, reveling in the freedom that he felt. Just as he felt his lungs begin to tighten he concentrated.
With a pop, he transformed. Then he made a happy sound. Well, if it was possible for a giant squid to make a happy sound.
He shot through the water, truly enjoying the freedom and sheer joy he found there. A while later (time is an unfamiliar thing to squid, so he couldn't really be quite sure how long it was), he saw boats causing ripples on the surface. He began to follow them, swimming under close enough to keep an eye on them yet far enough to hide in the murky black water.
He suddenly saw a body hit the water. Raising a tentacle, he swiftly pushed the boy back into the boat, back to safety. Knowing that that had been why he had felt the need to come to the lake, he jetted off towards the grove where he had left his clothing.
As soon as he reached it, he pulled his robe on and quickly strode towards the school.
Using several passageways that were unknown to all but the headmaster or headmistress (How else could they randomly arrive throughout the school in order to surprise people?), he quickly arrived in a room behind the Great Hall. Taking a deep breath, he strolled into the Hall as he popped a lemon drop into his mouth. It would be another great year.
