Ms. Lillian Evans
The Second Bedroom
34 Hartwood Drive, Southall, Surrey.
"It came, Severus!" exclaimed the red-haired girl, all bright eyes as she tackled the tall gangly, dark-haired boy. "It came today!" Her name was Lily Evans, and she had just received her letter from Hogwarts.
The boy, Severus Snape, beamed at her. His gaze was filled with adoration for the green-eyed girl. "Didn't I tell you it would come, Lily? About a thousand times?" He might have sounded a bit cross, but he was only kidding. He could never be upset, not with her.
Lily squeezed him tightly. "You did, and all!" she whispered, "I'm so happy!" Lily glanced back down at the thick parchment paper, and at it's red seal. "Oh, Sev!" Lily exclaimed, burying her face in his shoulder.
Most boys his age would have cried cooties at this point, but Severus wasn't a normal boy. He slowly wrapped his arms around Lily, watching her greedily, catching a whiff of her scent. She smelled of strawberries. "Won't be long now. We'll go to Hogwarts soon enough."
"I'll miss my parents, though," said Lily, "and Tuney."
Severus made a face. His dislike of Lily's older sister, Petunia, coupled with his dislike of his own parents, was apparent to Lily.
"I won't miss mine." Severus said, looking away.
"Oh," said Lily, "They're not still-"
"Yeah," he interrupted her, "but it's ok. I'll be gone soon." Severus looked down at Lily again. He was several inches taller than her already.
She tapped his long nose with her forefinger. "Everything will turn out alright," she said, smiling at him. Lily's smile was beautiful, it lit up the area around them. "We're still young Sev. Let's not grow up yet."
He smiled back at his best friend. "Yes, let's." Severus offered Lily his arm, and the two of them ran towards the sunshine.
