Hermione's Worst Nightmare

Unseen moisture seeped into the pores of my bare hands and feet. My eyes flashed open. I was lying spawled on the ground in the forest of Dean. The trees towered above my head, and rustled gently in the high wind. I hesitantly got to my feet. Birds cawed in the distance. A nearby brook bubbled and gurgled merrily. Danger was not present. Breathing deeply, I was reminded painfully of the many weeks I had spent here with Ron and Harry. Hardly moments after I had envisioned him, Ron appeared in the clearing. I had to laugh. He looked rather like a deer, nosing his way around. Suddenly and without warning, Ron ran up to me. He smiled warmly. I melted. I realized immidiately that for the first time in almost five years, we were alone. Alone.

An impulse raged over me like a deadly disease. I jumped into his arms to snog him, but then he was gone.

Running. I was running. Why was I running? Death eaters. they were chasing us. A cold sweat broke out on me. They weren't Death Eaters. They were Snatchers. Ron was just ahead of me. Alarmingly, he seemed to slow down.

"Ron NO! What are you do-? NO DON'T TOUCH HIM!"

I turned around. Self tightning ropes were coiling, twisting, choking him.

"RON! Don't kill him. please. Kill me instead. PLEASE!" His face was turning blue, his breathing became slow and laboured. Tears streaming down my face, I reached for my wand, but it was not to be found.

"Please, Ron, NO, RON"!

Beads of sweat clung to my forehead. Breathing heavilly, I tried to untangle myself from the bedsheets. I couldn't tell if I was dreaming. I looked beside me. There was Ron, dreaming peacefully. In the cradle beside the bed was sweet baby Rose. I buried my head in my pillow and cried softly.
