A/N- Semper Fi Sweatshirt challenged me a while back to write a Glee prompt with any character, using the phrase, "Don't torture yourself, that's my job." So, here you go.
Disclaimer: I most definitely do not own Glee.
The Cheerios uniform was a privilege to possess. Every Cheerio was to keep her shirt ironed and her skirt pressed to perfection, and it was to be coupled with pristine white sneakers. Those were the rules, and Sue Sylvester made a point of checking to make sure all of her girls followed these rules. She walked briskly through the halls of William McKinley every day to make sure the cheerleaders were wearing their uniforms properly and proudly.
Naturally, Coach Sylvester was furious to find Santana with a baggy sweatshirt draped over her chest.
"Lopez!" Sue barked. Santana jumped and backed away in surprise. She had been strangely skittish like this lately, but no one knew why. The Latina hugged her arms to her chest and replied, "Yeah, Coach?"
"The sweater. Take it off."
Santana's eyes widened and she frantically shook her head.
"Well then, maybe I should just give that uniform to someone who'll appreciate it enough to show it off." Santana looked ready to protest, but she shook her head sadly and peeled the sweater off, her lip quivering as she did so. Sue spotted a series of dark marks along Santana's wrists and grabbed the Cheerio before she could escape.
"You- I don't-" Sue cut herself off when she saw Santana's eyes dart away; Brittany walked past, chatting amicably with that wheelchair kid. Sue sighed and let her grip go limp. The angry red lines were glaring up at her as she said quietly and calmly, "Keep the sweater on until those heal. Don't make any more of them." Santana's eyes were still on Brittany as Sue spoke. "You're a Cheerio, Santana. You still have something to live for." Sue dropped her wrist and Santana hurried to put her sweatshirt back on, her eyes now falling to the floor. Sue frowned at the young woman and called out over her shoulder as she walked away.
"Don't torture yourself," she said loudly. "That's my job. Now get to practice!"
A/N- Don't forget, you guys, I'm always open to taking challenges :) I've got a lot in my queue at the moment so it might be a while, but the sooner you send one in, the sooner I can write it.
If you want to leave a challenge for this specific story (like giving me a set of characters to write a one shot for using the same phrase) then just leave a comment, send me a private message, or drop a message in my ask box on tumblr! Thanks for reading, you guys!
