My Past in the Past

Summary:

One day, Kagome woke up from a coma with a bad case of amnesia. She had lost all of her memories of the past year of her life. Her family, thinking that it was best for Kagome not to know the truth, lied to her about what she had been up to. Kagome had a suspicion that her family was keeping the truth from her, but brushed those feelings off and continued to live her life with no knowledge of Inuyasha and the time she in the Feudal Era. However, as life continued, so did her feeling of emptiness. Now it's finally time for her to learn the truth and face her past.

Author's Notes:

Hello, friends! It's been awhile since I've written anything, so I thought it was about time. This chapter is pretty short, but I plan on making the ones to come much longer. I hope you enjoy the story!

Chapter 1: Lost and Found

Each day passed by so quickly. Life had become so dull. Soon my high school life would come to a finish and I felt like I was going to become an old lady in the blink of an eye.

This dullness began during my final year of middle school. I had been in a coma and when I awoke I had amnesia. I couldn't remember that whole year of my life at all. Momma, grandpa, and Sota tried their absolute best to help me remember the events of that year, but each thing they told me sounded so unfamiliar. It felt like they were hiding the truth from me. I'm sure that wasn't the case and that I was just being silly and suspicious, but I couldn't kill my suspicion. I still feel that way. I want to--no! I need to know the truth about what happened that year.

"Kagome-chaaaan!"

'Ooh, well.' I thought to myself as I snapped back to reality. "Hey, good morning, guys."

My friends were bright and bubbly even though today was pretty gross weather wise. Usually, seeing their warm smiles made me cheer up, but today I was feeling particularly disturbed. I had a strange feeling that today was going to be rather interesting, to say the least.

"What's up, Kagome? Did you study for the math test?" My friend Eri asked with a smile.

"Ha…ha…ha…ooh, shoot."

"Kagome, you forgot!?"

I sighed and lowered my head, feeling even worse than before. "Yeah, I totally and completely forgot about the test today." I admitted, then after a short pause and another sigh, I added "I think I'll just skip today."

"You're going to skip school!? Kagome, that's no good!"

Suddenly, I felt a strong sadness in my heart that quickly grew and grew until I felt like my heart was about to burst. I took off running down the crowded street. I had no destination. I just needed to get away.

After running for what seemed like forever, I was completely out of breath and needed to rest and regain my composure. I entered a park and found an old wooden bench to collapse on. I stayed there for quite some time, watching children running around, playing games with their friends. I watched as this one black haired boy with beautiful dark blue eyes chased after the cute little girls, attempting to grab their tiny behinds. 'Hah, reminds me of someone.' I thought, and then gasped. 'Wait, who? Who was I thinking of? Who…'

Next I saw a young boy with a terrible temper yelling at some girl. He shouted "Go away already, you bitch!" and I actually…chuckled. 'That was awful of him! Why did I laugh? Why…did that seem so familiar? What's…going on?'

As I was questioning myself and the familiarity of the actions and words of these kids, I noticed a woman walking towards me. She had extremely long, silky black hair and deep brown eyes that…kind of resembled mine.

The woman stopped a few feet away from me and gazed into my eyes. "Ah, I've found you, Kagome."
