"Dad! Come on I don't want to be late for my first day of school!"

"I know Rory. I'm coming!"

"Chilton isn't going to wait Dad!"

Christopher emerged dressed nicely in his suit and greeted his 16 year old daughter. He couldn't believe how fast she had grown up. He looked at her and remembered the day she was born.

"She's pretty" said Christopher.

"No she's perfect" replied Lorelai.

"So I guess we should get married?"

That was it. He was suddenly brought back to the present time.

"God. Why wasn't she here? How could she have left her own baby? This beautiful, smart girl?"

"Dad. We got to go!" yelled Rory.

"I'm here. Let's go!"

After Rory was at school Christopher had to get something to drink. He couldn't stop thinking about Lorelai. Of course he thought about her all the time, I mean Rory looked and acted just like her. When he looked at Rory he couldn't help but see Lorelai. She hadn't been out to see them in a while. Normally she called like once a week and talked to Rory about school and everything, but he couldn't really remember the last time he had seen her. He also knew that Rory missed her mom so much. He couldn't bear thinking about how Rory was affected by this. He hadn't really been thinking when Lorelai had gotten pregnant. Neither of them had. They were just 16 and having fun. Of course the fun had a not so fun end with the whole pink strip thing. He had wanted to marry her, wanted to be with her forever, but she wouldn't marry him. In the beginning they raised Rory together, but then something in Lorelai came out. She didn't want to be tied down with a baby and she split. She kept in touch and visited, but she never really saw Rory much. That was until now. Christopher thought back to the call he had gotten that morning at 1 after Rory had gone to sleep.

It had been her. Lorelai. Lorelai had called him. She wanted to find out how things were going… and tell him that she would be there in Stars Hollow for a visit at 10.

"Chris I'm coming up to see her. I need to see her for her birthday and talk to he-"

"Lorelai, you can't just come back and expect her to talk to you like nothing happened."

"I know Chris, but I need to try."
