A very short prologue to an idea I've been working on, d'ya think I should continue?
Not mine- Trousers of Time belong to Terry Pratchet and Harry Potter and cast to J.K.R.
A far more intelligent person than I once described time as a pair of trousers: in every situation the possible outcomes are the legs of the trousers splitting apart... this tale concerns it's self with the next leg over as it were from the known time line, Voldemort took five seconds longer in storming the Potters' house at Godric's hollow. Those five seconds were enough for the family to get out the window, which gave them eight more seconds to get beyond the apperating boundary.
Livid at the loss of his target, Voldemort took his revenge by torturing and killing Sirius Black. James Potter felt the loss of his best friend deeply, the young man sought to have someone close enough to blame. The reason that they were being targeted at all- his young son Harry, and that prophesy were James' eventual conclusions.
"If he'd been normal..." James broke down in his wife's arms on multiple occasions "...Siri would still be alive... a normal, wizarding child... would that be too much to ask? Would it Lil?" young Harry heard, and was affected by this statement many times throughout his childhood. Harry worked as hard as he could to be exactly normal for his father.Neville liked strawberry jelly, so he said he did too, and was very nearly ill, Harry made sure to come average, or as close as he could manage to it in an attempt to make his father like him more.
Which was why when the order headquarters were over-run and the five year old Harry and Neville were pulled out of the cupboard they were hiding in, the green light flashed, and there was a scream, and then nothing- Harry begged his best friend to take the "blame".
