Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.

Author's Note: This is dedicated to kci47, as she won my Characterization Competition on HPFC, and one of the prizes was a drabble. First time writing Ron/Luna, hope you like it!

Ron is not perfect. He may have played a role in the Second Wizarding War, but he's not the Chosen One; he isn't a hero like Harry. He has flaws and imperfections, just like he has good qualities. He can be jealous and impulsive and temperamental, but he's also loyal and caring and funny. He's just a normal human being who's been through more than a teenager should have been through.

Luna is not perfect either. She's strange, believing in creatures that everyone knows are imaginary, believing in things that don't even exist. She can be brutally honest, and she doesn't care what anybody thinks of her. Yet she's intelligent, creative, and open-minded; she's just a teenage girl thrown into the midst of a war like all the rest of them.

Somehow they end up near the Black Lake, just sitting there. He watches her, trying to pretend that he's not (because she's not supposed to be the girl for him) and she looks all around. Her gaze ends up on him the most, and he can't decide whether to look away or to keep eye contact with her. They're just supposed to be friends, nothing more.

Her hand creeps over to his, a gentle, cool touch, and any thoughts of 'just friends' disappear from his mind.
