I slammed the door behind me sighing angrily. 'I can't believe my parents actually agreed with the government. I don't wanna join the army, never.' I made my way through the city, crossing a huge statue of the Firelord, that Ozai guy. I lived in the middle off the city, and teached firebending to kids in school. I guess that was kinda off my job, I didn't get paid allot, but enough for me to get myself food and stuff. I stared at the statue for a second. 'This war is such nonsense... And I'm not fighting for the fire nation.' My father had told me I would be betraying them if I didn't. I wasn't betraying anyone, because I didn't feel like a part of any nation. I felt like we should all just live in peace together. 'That just sounds too weird coming out off a firebenders mouth.' I thought sighing. I sat myself down on a bench next to the statue, closing my eyes.
"Fumiko?" I heared a voice call my name. I groaned opening my eyes. Soldiers, three off 'em, standing right in front of me.
"That's me." I slowly replied with a confused look on my face.
"The Fire lord himself wants to speak to you." 'W-what?'
"What are you talking about?" I mumbled standing up, trying to pass them.
"About you not wanting to join the army."
"How do you guys know about it?" He grabbed my arm.
"Leave those questions for the Fire lord himself." 'He probably doesn't know it himself, and that's why he doesn't answer.' I thought grinning to myself.
As soon as we reached the palace they brought me to the throne hall. Walking through those huge hallways I noticed this girl staring at me. I guessed she was the princess. 'What was that girl's name again? How could I forget that..' Thinking about what her name could be, the soldiers opened the doors and pushed me inside, closing them again directly. I stared back at the doors for a second and then turned around.
"So you are Fumiko... I'd expected you to be taller." I heard a deep voice call me from the other side off the throne hall. 'Oh god, please no height jokes.' I knew I wasn't very tall, but it kinda bugged me when people joked about it. I slowly started making my way to the throne.
"I am." I replied, not saying anything about the height joke.
"Your parents have come to me." 'It was them? What the... how could they do that? My own parents.' I angrily sighed. "They have told me about you not wanting to join the army, is this true?" I nodded staring up at him. "You know, we could use powerful firebenders like you in the army, I've heard about your firebending techniques." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm sorry, but I refuse to join the army." I said crossing my arms.
"How dare you disagreeing with me, and your own parents. How dare you betraying your own nation."
"I don't see it as betraying actually, I just don't like the idea that the fire nation wants the entire world for itself, it's stupid and selfish. I think the four nations should be living in peace. And I don't wanna be a part of this war, not in any way." I could hear him sigh angrily and growl something under his breath.
"Get out! Out of my sight! Never show yourself here aga-" I slammed the door behind me not letting him finish. And as fast as I could I made my way out off the palace.

I had left the fire nation and travelled to the Earth kingdom, where I started living in Ba Sing Se. I had to hide the fact that I was a firebender, I know what would happen if they'd find out I was. They would kill me, or worse, bring me back home.
