Okay peoples, so this is my first Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya fic. Basically, it's set a week after the Closed Space. Haruhi wants suspects that it was all real, so she "kidnaps" Kyon and drags him to the cinema in hopes of getting answers from him. This will eventually be a multi-chapter songfic to "On My Mind" by New Found Glory. The first chapter is basically the preface, and I hope to update at least once per week.

Disclaimer: While I may occasionally claim to be Haruhi, I do not own her or any of the SOS Brigade members, or anything from the entire show for that matter.

Thoughts

As I druged up that wretched hill to school, I contemplated many things: why we haven't discovered anything interesting lately; what new outfits to get for Mikuru-chan to wear; what was up with that dream about Kyon and myself last week. The first two were relatively easy to answer: the planetary alignment must be off or something right now; there was that elf costume I had seen the other day. However, I couldn't come up with any sort of idea for the last one.

It had been one of those really weird dreams where everything feels like its real. Except this dream was different because I KNOW that this had to be real. How else do I explain being compelled to put my hair up in a single ponytail the very next day even though it wasn't Tuesday? Or why, for the past week I have been constantly finding my mind drifting to the thought of Kyon? And if nothing else convinced me that it all really happened, surely my sudden, inexplicable, desire to run up to Kyon and snog him senseless did.

Wait-what the hell am I thinking? Argh! Haruhi, you frustrate me sometimes with your weird thoughts...especially those random ones involving Kyon. Hm, maybe this weekend I can capture him and force him to tell me if it was real or not. After all, he was in the dream, he'd better be able to tell me if it really happened!

I sighed as I opened the classroom door to find Haruhi in her usual seat looking especially eager. That was never a good sign, as it usually meant another one of her crazy schemes or bad ideas. Like that dream last week when Haruhi was so eager to go explore as the world was being destroyed and I had to bring her back by-Wait, I promised myself I wouldn't think about that anymore…

"Kyon!" she barked, interrupting my thoughts. "There's a new movie out this weekend about a time-traveling alien!"

"What doet that have to do with anything?" I asked.

"Saturday, at the usual spot, 1 in the afternoon. We're going to the cinema to see it, and if you're late, it's the death penalty for you!" Yeah right Haruhi, you've been using that threat for months now and it hasn't had any effect on me to date. I sighed, knowing that to argue would be pointless. So much for a peaceful Saturday…

A/N: So, what do you think? I kinda like where I have planned to go on this story, but if you ever feel I'm getting out of control , or worse, writing a lame story, LET ME KNOW! Or, if you think the story is the best thing since Wal-Mart started selling Pocky, LET ME KNOW! Remember, every time you review a fanfic, a fellow author loses their writer's block, and one day that author may need to be you! (Okay, so I made that last part up, but please review anyway, good or bad)

Oh, and just for fun, I'll throw in a little extra something in the form of putting in the lyrics that are inspiring my next chapter (the first part at least)

Let's make a date out of the cinema

Then stay out 'til early in the morning

I always like it 'cause we take it slow

While everyone around us seems so hurried
