"I just don't understand why you always talk to Sirius about it! Why can't you ever talk to me?" The words amplified by the small room they were inside.
She glared at him. "Are you really trying to tell me who I can and can't talk to about my life. My life that doesn't even involve you?"
His fists clenched at his sides and he took noticeably deep breaths. In. Out. "You know that's not what I'm saying," He told her slowly. "I'm just wondering why you never come to me when you have problems!"
"That's not even true, and you know that!" She yelled at him, looking up at the ceiling and rolling her eyes. "You're lying through your teeth when you say that. I come to you with my problems all the time! Just because I didn't come to you about this particular issue you're blowing up at me!"
"Yes, it's just this particular issue, but it's also every time you have this particular issue!"
She moved her hands wildly, as if he could understand her point with the mere waving. She closed her eyes and he heard her count quietly to 10. "The fact that he understands what I'm going through makes him the ideal person to talk to," She spoke, trying not raise her voice.
"Why can't you talk to me? What makes me such a terrible candidate?"
She laughed sharply. "You're joking me right?" His fierce glare told her otherwise. "You're an only child who was doted on by you're parents since the second you were born. I'm sorry if you don't understand family troubles the same way that Sirius does," The sarcasm in her voice pouring out of her voice was quite comparable to the pouring of a waterfall.
"That doesn't mean I wouldn't understand!" The red in his face was beginning to rival Lily's hair.
"Fine James!" She looked at the ceiling, covered her mouth with her hand quickly before removing it. "My sister is a horrendous bitch who doesn't want to invite me to her own wedding but I still have to go because my mother would through a fit otherwise. Not to mention that she'd blame me, not Petunia, if I didn't go even though I wasn't ever even sent a bloody invitation! Excuse me for having a difficult time telling my boyfriend of a month that my sister despises me and my mother doesn't know me well enough to 'properly love me' or however she phrased it, and that my dad's dying of cancer so I can't possibly burden my mum with the idea that my sister bloody well hates me!"
"Oh yeah, it's difficult to tell your boyfriend of one month, but quite simple to tell his best friend!"
She glared at him. "So I'm not allowed to tell Sirius anything that I don't tell you?"
"Yes!" He shouted, but immediately backtracked after seeing the look on Lily's face. "I-I mean," He stuttered. "That's not what I meant, Lily."
"Fuck you," She told him, venomously. He stepped forward to touch her arm. "I swear to god, James Potter, if you touch me I will murder you."
"Lily-"
"Go to hell, Potter."
He visibly flinched at the use of his last name, but walked forward still. He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards him. She pushed him away, hard.
"No, you don't get to say something like that and just expect me to forgive you after a moments notice."
"I really am sorry," He told her, sadly. "I just wish you would trust me."
Unimpressed with his apology she said, "I think maybe you should trust me. Just because I don't run to you with all my problems doesn't mean I don't trust or love you, it means that I would like to talk to someone else about it, because they understand better." She took a deep breath. "I was going to tell you. I always do. Okay?"
He smiled. "Okay."
