"Are you going the dance, Elaine?" Fayne asked.
I looked in the mirror on my locker to see a pale girl with sapphire blue eyes. Her dark brown hair fell down in curls like a graceful waterful. She added a bit a blush on her cheeks before answering her childhood friend.
"I haven't been asked yet," I said, disappointed. "Why? Have you asked anyone yet?"
"No, not yet. Just that I know someone who wants to ask you badly," he said, nervously. "You also know him."
I closed my locker with excitement spreading through my veins. "Is it Percy?"
He looked seemed to deflate a bit, but he quickly became himself. I must have imagined it. I mean, why would he be disappointed.
Before he could answer, a group of teens came around from the corner. The "Inseparable Five" came to make an entrance.
The group contained of three boys and two girls, but they all seem to be related. Cousins or siblings to be exact.
Though the group were related, they seem to have very few things in common including you the strong bond with each other.
For example, every one boy has different features. Jason Grace and Percy Jackson have tan skin that seemed to glow under the light while Nico di Angelo had olive skin that closely seem death-like. Nico was more of the outsider of the group while that others expressed what they felt
Out of the girls, Bianca di Angelo seems to be more of a tomboy while Thaila Grace went for the bad chick and goth look. Blanca also had a more peaceful view, but Thaila had the temper of the family.
Trust me I went down that road.
It was not pretty.
Though they were all different, they bonded better than normal families. It was really surprising when we all became friends.
Although I enjoy their company, I want to become more than friends with a particular sea-green eyed boy.
"Do you want to join the group?" I asked Fayne.
"Nah, I'll see you after school," he said, waving goodbye.
I ruffled his dark hair and left towards the five teens. Percy noticed me first and gave me a heads up. My heart began to pound quickly. "Hey, guys!"
The "Inseparable Five" greeted me with smiles on their faces though they seem slightly forced.
What were they talking about just now?, I wondered
"What's up," I asked, casually.
"Just discussing about a situation we have at camp," Thaila answered.
I frowned. "Does that mean you're not going to the Halloween Dance?"
"Nico and I have to go. Direct orders from the head boss. Though the rest of the guys are," Thaila nodded at the rest. Nico gave a shrug.
"We'll hopefully you'll come next time," I shrugged at the two as I turned to the rest. "Who are your dates?"
"Piper," Jason said, lovingly.
I smiled. I met Piper about a month, and I couldn't believe what I got as I surprise when I saw her. She looked like one of those snobby girls who think their better than everyone else, but she was the opposite.
She didn't care of appearance or how much money you have. She only cared about true friendship and trust. That's why she became my friend quite quickly.
"What about you, Bianca?"
She smiled. "A cute boy from my science class asked me. His name is Peter Winters."
"He's really sweet," I told her. "I think I should prepare the wedding."
"Oh, shut up," she laughed.
I looked at Percy hopefully. "What about you Percy?"
"I haven't ask her yet, but I'll do it soon," he said, shyly. He rubbed his neck with a slight blush appearing on his cheeks.
Please, let it be me, I begged to whoever is up there listening.
"She's a lucky girl then," I said.
The bell rang, so the group had to separate in different directions. Though, not before muttering a few words when I walked away.
" . . . Empousi . . ."
" . . . Camp . . ."
" . . .Under attack . . ."

I sat at my desk ready for another boring lecture from Mr. Whits when something dropped next to my leg.
"Sorry," a girl with blonde hair. "I'm just very tired, and I've been hitting people today."
"It okay," I told her. "Are you new?"
She nodded.
"Elaine Smith."
"Annabeth Chase."
"Why did you transferr here?" I asked her.
She shook her head with a small smile. "I came to help my Seaweed Brain boyfriend."
"That's nice. Though I have to warn you, this class isn't exciting, so I hope you brought something to listen to."
"Thanks for the advice," she nodded at me before taking out her stuff.
"Have you heard of dance?"
"Yeah," Annabeth answered. "My boyfriend just asked me to go."
"Who's your―"
The bell rang interrupting my question. I guess I'll find out at the dance.

I fixed the straps of my slinky black dress before turning to the mirror.
My costumed contains a simple back dress and a pair of dark wings with a black halo connected to it. It's suppose to represent a fallen angel on the Earth.
I clipped my feather earrings and necklace when a car horn sounded from the street. I looked out the window to see Fayne waving me over.
I ran downstairs to see my mom with a camera on her hands.
"Seriously, mom?" I said.
"Yes, it's not everyday you see your own daughter stay young," she gestured for a pose. After a few flashes, she left me to fly from the nest.
Aw, puns. They're the best.
"Finally, the angel has honored me with her presence," he said, sarcastically.
He had the classic gangster look: a striped suit and a fedora. He saw too many old movies for his own good.
"I'm a fallen angel, and this fallen angel can kick your gangster butt."
He shook his head and headed towards the school. I turned on the radio and the song All About That Bass came on.
I began to sing the lyrics when I saw Fayne trying to hide a smile.
"Hey! Don't laugh at me!" I shouted at him.
"I'm not."
"Uh-huh."
The radio continued to blast music as we entered the school parking lot where teens sat on top of their cars having a laugh.
"Has Percy ask you to the dance?" he asked.
"No, I'm hoping he'll ask me inside," I said. "I'll see you there."
I rushed out of the car and into the gym just in time to see the group gathering at the corner table.
Jason was dressed as Superman (from a inside joke they had) while Piper had a Pocahontas-like costume to express her Native American heritage.
Bianca had a black Renaissance dress that somehow brought the sense of death into my thoughts. Beside her was Peter in a pirate coustume. He seemed really committed because he has the look perfectly - from the eyepatch to the wooden legs.
I saw Percy dressed as lifeguard though he seems to be alone. He said something to the group before walking into the sea of dancing students.
"Hey, nice costumes," I told them.
"You too," Bianca complimented.
"So what are guys planning to do . . ."

About half an hour later, I saw Annabeth sitting at a table with her hand leaning on her hand. I look around . . . Nope, no boyfriend.
"Hey, Annabeth," I greeted.
She seemed to lighten up at the sight of me. "Hey, Elaine."
"Where's your boyfriend?"
"He went to get something from his car," she shook her head. "I think he lost it. He's been looking most of the time we've been here."
"Should we go get―"
I was interrupted by a figure that shouted "Annabeth!" and basically ran towards. I look closely at him.
No . . . It can't be . . . He can't be Annabeth's Seaweed Brain . . .
"Percy Jackson, how long does it take for you to―" Annabeth started before Percy kissed her.
KISSED HER!
I stumbled a few steps back, but the couple gave no attention. My heart gave a sharp lurch at the sight of a necklace Percy slipped into her hands, but I caught a glimpse of the inscriptions of the silver charm.
Seaweed Brain + Wise Girl
I ran out of the gym as the tears fell from my eyes. I passed all the trees that was placed in the school's yard until I reached the bench in the middle of the school's garden.
I sobbed even harder at the sight of the red roses around me.
The symbol of love.
I felt someone sit down gently besides me. I looked up and saw Fayne with a hesitant look. Finally, he came closer and touched my cheek gently.
"Percy doesn't know on what he missed out," he whispered.
I stilled as he came closer. He was determined and ready. I noticed myself getting closer to him as I looked at his dark eyes.
Beautiful like the night.
At the moment our lips touch, fireworks shot into the air from the school. I didn't see it as the school's fireworks though.
It was the fireworks I felt with Fayne at that moment.
How could I been so oblivious?
Hope you enjoyed the rewrite.
