Just Don't Leave

A crash of thunder outside Gordo's window startled him awake. He had never liked storms that much. Looking outside his window, he realized what was going on and froze, thinking.

Oh god, a storm. I can't wake up my parents, that'll get angry. But I need someone to keep me company. Who, though? Gordo ran down a list of names in his mind.

Not any of the guys...Miranda's gone...I have to call Lizzie.
He picked up the phone, dialing Lizzie's number. To his relief, she
picked up.
"Hello? Who-who is this?" Lizzie stifled a yawn.

"It's Gordo. The storm woke me up and-"

"I'll be over in five," then she hung up. Staring at the phone in his hand, he smiled. Maybe this won't be so bad after all...

Five minutes later, there was a light knock on Gordo's door. He ran to the door, to find Lizzie, soaked to the bone and shivering.

"Hi, Gordo. You okay?" she said, teeth chattering.

"I will be now. Thanks for coming over. I didn't think you would," a sheepish smile crossed his face and he blushed a light red.

"Did you really think I'd leave my best friend all alone?"

"Well, it is three in the morning...Anyways, you should change into warm clothes, you're soaked!"

"That would be good. Got anything I could borrow?"

"Of course, my closet is your closet," Gordo laughed. Lizzie ran upstairs to his room, spraying dots of water around the hall way and stairs. Gordo retreated to the family room to wait for her. Within minutes, Lizzie was back, dressed in some of his clothes.

"Thanks for coming over. I owe you," he said. She sat down next to him.

"It's no problem. You'd do the same for me. So...Do you want to do something, or what?"

"I don't care, I just needed somebody else here with me. Just sitting here with you is fine with me."

"Whatever you want," Lizzie laid back against Gordo, pulling a blanket over the two of them. He placed his arms gingerly around her waist, and hugged her tightly.

"I love you, Lizzie," he whispered. Smiling, she responded.

"I love you too, Gordo."

"Promise me one thing."

"Okay...What?"

"That you won't leave."

"I promise," and with that, the two shared a sweet kiss, falling asleep shortly after that.
