Let sleeping dogs lie

Teddy Altman was at her wits end.

Bounce Bounce

If you asked her what she found more annoying than a blue bouncy ball, it would be a long list.

Bounce. Bounce…

At least until this plane ride.

Bounce Bounce…

Across the aisle from her was Cristina Yang and she currently had that said blue bouncy ball.

Bounce Bounce

Teddy had no clue where Cristina had gotten that stupid ball and she didn't really care that it took a tremendous amount of skill to bounce the ball off the airplane seat in front of her and then catch it again.

Bounce Bounce

Teddy was sick of that stupid little ball.

Bounce Bounce

Then it dawned on her, Cristina Yang was completely and totally focused on catching that ball.

Bounce Bounce

When she was completely focused on that ugly blue ball, she wasn't thinking about anything else.

Bounce Bounce

She wasn't thinking about patients and death. She wasn't thinking about O'Malley's death or Izzie leaving, or the shooting, or saving her best friend's husband with a gun to her head.

Bounce Bounce

Teddy sighed; this girl had been through too much.

Bounce Bounce

Over the intercom, the flight attendant announced they would be landing in Portland Oregon shortly.

Bounce Bounce

A few minutes ago, that was all Teddy was thinking about. But now she watched her subordinate and realized how far they both have come.

Bounce Bounce

On the way back to Seattle from recovering a donor heart, Cristina still had that ball.

Bounce Bounce

"Hey where did you get that ball?" Teddy found herself asking.

Bounce Bounce

Cristina looked up, slightly startled "MIkey gave it to me."

Bounce Bounce

Teddy merely nodded; Mikey was there 14 year old patient who would be receiving his new heart shortly.

Bounce Bounce

So yeah, maybe the ball gave Teddy hell the first hour on the plane but now she didn't mind in the slightest.

Bounce Bounce

"Maybe I'll bring one next time"

Bounce Bounce

And the next time they were on the plane, Teddy herself had an ugly green bouncy ball.
