Chapter 1
Avalon pushed me closer to the hole. I shrieked and stumbled a few feet way I was going down there. I swallowed as Avalon spoke in a whisper "Chicken. Cal, come on, just jump." She gestured towards the hole in the grass. I shook my head. "No, people always say weird things happen around here." Avalon stared at me. "Caltha, have you gone completely mad? People make up random stuff just to scare kids away from their property!" She jerked her head to the side, as if she heard something like a shriek coming from behind. "Let's just go." I said, my throat dry. "My mom probably has dinner ready, your staying the night, right?" "Yeah." After a few minutes of convincing, or should I say, begging to leave, Avalon agreed and we went to my little farm, home.
Chapter 2
"Caltha!" I turned around, and found Micah running at me, his arms spread out. "Micah!" I jumped into his arms, and he spun me around. Micah is my really good friend, and he went away for a few months, for counseling, he had anger issues. Micah put me back on the ground and smiled. "I haven't seen you in literally forever! How did the counseling go? Did it help any?" I asked, wanting answers. "Not at all." he chuckled and Harper hiked up to us. "Micah!" he said, anxious to see how he was. "Sup." Micah fist bumped Harper. "Get any girls? I mean, besides your mom?" Micah asked him, laughing. Harper replied, "You mean, besides me, too?" He pretended to flip his black hair, which he barely had any of. "Duh" Micah runs his fingers through his own bronze hair and continued. "What about Meadow, how long you've been in love with her?" His hazel eyes glistened in the sunlight. Harper smiled and blushed under his pale skin. "No, not yet, but look at her blond hair sparkle in the sun." He adjusted Micah so he faced her, as she talked with her friend. Suddenly, I sensed somebody behind me, and whipped around, my ponytail flying. Avalon smirked and tapped on Harper's shoulder. He turned around and faced her. "Did you want to go to the woods around Caltha's house today?" Harper smiled. "Cal, is that okay with you?" I smiled back and said, "Yes" which was a mistake.
Chapter 3
It was me, Avalon, Harper, and Micah in the woods. We all agreed to bring a flashlight, a knife in case we needed one, and snacks. We all met up in the outskirts of the wilderness at about four in the morning. I asked, "Are you guys sure about this, I mean, weird things happen around here, a lot!" I swing my flashlight around and turn it on as Micah takes the lead and shines his light around. He shines it in my eyes and I blink rapidly. After a while, we find the middle of the wilderness and reach a meadow. In the middle was a small building, which, when we looked up close, was burned, and not-so-quickly rescued. We settled down inside and Avalon suggested we eat, take a break. I agreed, I was starving. I pulled out a candy bar and instantly gnawed on it as soon as the wrapper pulled away. "Woah, you hungry girl?" Micah looked at my now-chocolate covered lips. "Um, yeah." I said sarcastically. Avalon pointed out the sunrise, which was stunning. I regarded out of the corner of my eye Micah watching me. His hand found mine, and I looked at him, but he was focused on the sunrise. I smiled. I had always secretly sort of liked Micah, I guess I was a fool. I leaned my head on his shoulder, he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. We watched, then he looked at me, his bronze hair flowing with the wind, his hazel eyes sparkling, I looked at him. He grinned. I felt something stirring in my chest, my stomach, everywhere. I rolled my eyes and pressed my mouth to his, he caressed my face in his hands.
