Spoilers: Occupation

Leoben sauntered out of the apartment cum prison, but he did not go far. He stepped through the barred door, careful to lock it behind him. One never knew what to expect from Kara Thrace, and he had no intention of letting her escape. Especially not at this crucial stage in his plan. He entered a small room filled with monitors. He smirked as he watched Kara pace around the apartment, arms crossed over her abdomen, trying very hard to avoid looking at the little girl.

He knew that the only way to control Kara Thrace was to throw her emotionally off balance. A self-satisfied grin appeared as he watched her panic growing. Leoben knew that the two things Kara feared most were becoming like her neglectful abusive mother and being responsible for the death of another loved one. He was going to assail her with both.

Leoben watched as Kara lost the last of her emotional control and fled to the lavatory. Perfect. Kara Thrace was an exceptionally strong woman, and he knew he might have only minutes to complete his plan. He silently descended the stairs, and beckoned the girl towards him. Filled with childhood innocence and faith in the essential goodness of the world, Kacey giggled as she ran towards him.

Leoben knew he had to be very careful. Hybrid children were more durable than ordinary humans, but they were still easily damaged. As Kacey skipped up to the first landing, Leoben knelt and caught the girl's ankle. Too surprised to scream, Kacey's head connected with the stair and the childish laughter abruptly ceased.

Leoben fled the apartment, knowing that Kara would soon come to investigate the sudden hush. Now, Kara Thrace, you will be mine.
