All He Needed
A short, pointless drabble about how neither Stacey, Nor Lori truly cared for Tommy as he is. Either the wolf or himself. Never both. But, maybe, someone truly does. Review please!
He didn't need Stacey Hansen. She never would have been able to accept him for who he really was. She never would have been able to live with knowing he was the Pleasantville Werewolf. Though it could have made things better, he'd be able to explain taking off on their dates and why he couldn't go out on full moons, it wasn't worth the possible exposure. He knew he could trust Merton. Hell, he trusted Merton with his life on more than one occasion. If Merton didn't think it was a good idea to tell her, he wouldn't.
Stacey could only love Tommy. Tommy needed someone who loved him as both the wolf and himself. As one.
Which led to the other side of the spectrum. Lori had been in love with the wolf, though not particularly attracted to Tommy himself. She only wanted the wolf, and he couldn't give her that. Merton had been right again. While Lori wouldn't turn him over to evil scientists ready to dissect him, or broadcast it publicly, it all might have been easier of she had never known about it. While she was a bit more helpful in fights against evil, it also meant he had more to look out for.
It was when he realized that if he had to choose between his best friend and his 'girlfriend', that he'd choose Merton in a heartbeat, he knew what had been right in front of him all along. Or rather right beside him.
Lori could only love the Wolf. He needed someone who loved him in both forms, because that's what he was.
And he'd had that someone from the beginning of all of this.
Merton was all he needed. Merton loved the wolf just as much as he loved Tommy, he'd proven it time and time again, standing by him in the worst of situations.
And because of that... Merton was all he wanted... needed.
