My Name is Barbossa

Disclaimer: I do not own any characters in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise

Also, MAJOR spoilers for Dead Men Tell No Tales

The sea was closing in, the roar was deafening. The Black Pearl clung to the calm ocean surrounding the rift for dear life as the gap threatened to pull it in. The trident was broken, breaking all curses linked to the sea, and there was not much time for Jack, Henry, Carina or Barbossa. The Pearl's anchor, which they all held onto, was going to barely make it out. As the monstrous walls of water began to grow closer and closer, Salazar, still vowing to kill Jack, started to climb further and further up the mighty anchor, sword in hand.

Unfortunately for Carina, she felt her hands begin to slip from the anchor. Struggling to hold on, she began to fear that she wouldn't make it. As the anchor kept getting wetter and wetter from the water, her hands gave out and Carina found herself falling through the air to her death. Screaming in horror, Carina shut her eyes and waited for the walls of water to consume and drown her. As soon as she was about to reach the bottom of the anchor, Carina felt someone grab her arm. "I got you," the person said.

Carina looked up, expecting it to be someone from Salazar's crew or maybe it was Salazar himself. Instead, Carina found herself looking up into Barbossa's eyes. He was not in good shape, he was all wet, his clothes were torn and he had a nasty scratch from the previous battle on the Pearl on his right arm. But Carina noticed something else, near his shoulder, there was a tattoo of the stars found in the diary which lead them to the trident. Carina then realized something. The diary was left to her by her father and she had always speculated that he was a man of science. How was it possible that a feared captain, a pirate captain to be exact, had the same star sign as the diary? Carina figured that there was only one answer; Captain Hector Barbossa was her father.

"What am I to you," she asked him, wondering what he thought of her. Barbossa looked into her eyes. "Treasure," he responded to her. Carina knew right then that even though they just met, Barbossa did indeed love her. However, while she was happy to have found her long lost father, Salazar was going closer and closer, ready to kill them all in order to get to Jack. "Hector!" Jack shouted and threw Barbossa a sword. Knowing what must be done in order to save his daughter and his friends, Barbossa let go of the chain on the anchor. Falling through the air, Barbossa stabbed Salazar through the back. Salazar, who became mortal once more from the trident's destruction, screamed in pain as he let go and fell, hitting the anchor face first, leading to his ultimate demise.

With Salazar gone, Barbossa knew that while he couldn't make it out, at least he saved and his friends and his daughter, someone whom he loved dearly. Locking eyes with Carina one last time, Barbossa smiled, knowing that she would live on. Carina stared back at him with a look of horror on her face. Jack was also shocked. His rival, who had come back from the dead and refused to be killed again, was now falling to his death and this time it was his choice. Finally, the monstrous wall crashed to together, consuming Barbossa and Salazar, along with his crew. There was no way that none of them could've survived. On the Black Pearl, Henry, Jack and Carina were all reunited with Gibbs and the rest of the crew. "Pirate's life Hector," Jack said sadly, looking over the railing and into the water. Seeing this, the rest of the crew placed their hands, or hats, on their hearts as a sign of respect to their fallen comrade. Carina then turned to Henry. "Barbossa," she said, "my name is Barbossa."

This is probably my saddest one shot. Please rate and review.
