Then
Thor ran laughing through the halls. He stop at his brother Loki's door. He hadn't been out in a few days and Thor was getting bored, so he decided to knock and see if he wanted to play. Loki did the best tricks.
Thor walked on Loki's door and said, "Loki, would you like to play? You could show me some more of your tricks! Or we could wrestle!" Thor bounced on his heels waiting for a response.
On the other side of the door, Loki was sitting with his back to the door. He was staring at his hands in worry. A few days ago, after their first visit to Jotunhiem, his hands had started turning blue. He knew he and Thor shouldn't have gone off like that, directly disobeying their father's he was turning into a freak! And to make it worse, he might accidentally hurt his brother. Loki had no idea what was happening, but he knew it wasn't good.
"Go away, Thor!" he shouted. Thor's face fell. Why didn't he want to play? Was it because of the trip to Jotunhiem they weren't supposed to take? Their father only scolded them about it. They didn't even have a real punishment. So why was he acting like this?
"Okay, goodbye," Thor said as he walked away.
Now
Ever since that day, Loki had periodically turned blue. He still hid it from everyone, fearing that they would think he was a freak. A monster.
At first, Loki was scared to go back to Jotunhiem. It could do other things to him. Or Thor. But he soon got over that fear. In fact, sometimes he was excited to go. But that was before he learned. That was before Thor learned.
Once Loki found out he was... one of them, he knew he would never be accepted. Not truly. And yet, it wasn't a surprise. Loki always knew he was different. He just didn't know how different.
Thor was surprised, but he still loved his brother. He still accepted him. But Thor knew no no else would. They would see a monster, instead or a (deeply buried) kind heart. He just hoped it wouldn't change anything between them.
