On the Cliff

This is a poem about Esme before she took the jump off a cliff when her baby died.

I might write another poem in the next chapter about when Carlisle finds her dying... Please review!

Breath catches in the wind

A life a love that appears no more

A love that questions all boundaries of hope

Of happiness, of eternity

Face upturned towards the sun forever shadowed in darkness

An eclipse that stops the heart

Whispers upon a breeze carried out to sea

Of dreams so close to reality

Questions arise upon my lips

Footsteps fall behind me

Warm hands upon my neck

Soft fingers graze my cheek

Hands so small in mine as to smother completely

Opal skin like snow

Lips like a soft pink rose

A rose that represents my heart

Lashes that frame a soul

Warmth that fills my chest

Expanding, exploding

A blinding light that outshines the darkness

The darkness within that renders me helpless

A battle for a heart ripped in two

Wounds invisible but felt unto the victim

A tear that falls

Pain caused but yet to be endured

I fall backward into the raging ocean

Tumbling down into an oblivion

Of waves brewed by turmoil and hate

Arms outstretched to embrace

To love and cherish

Grasping at air

Gone, gone is my heart, my being, my soul

Rustling behind me

A soft noise on the cliff

Whispered on the wind
