Cinderpelt looked at the squealing kit who was wriggling on the ground in confusion, keening for her mother. The baby silver tabby she-cat looked remarkably similar to the smoky tabby in front of her, all except the dominant silver in her coat and her small size. "Yellowfang… Are you sure about this? I don't want to hurt her."

"She'll never know Cinderpelt, she won't know." The flat muzzled Star Clan cat responded, pushing the kit closer to the other tabby.

"I don't… I don't want to ruin her life…" Cinderpelt meowed hesitantly, looking at the innocently whining kit.

"Her path is just beginning, and you can live the life you want." Yellowfang urged her apprentice, "Your leg will be healed and you can live the life of a warrior, a mother, and a mate."

"Okay… but… what about Firestar?"

"He has Sandstorm CInderpelt. This kit won't feel those same feelings for him, but she is destined to love someone who's just as special, he'll even be related to him." Yellowfang meowed, prodding the kit with one paw, causing the newborn to squeak indignantly and bump her nose against Yellowfang's paw.

"Ok, but only if she doesn't mind," Cinderpelt meowed, cautiously coming closer to the small silver tabby.

"You don't mind do you little one?" Yellowfang meowed, pushing her nose against the kit's small flank. The kit opened her eyes to reveal bright green innocent eyes looking up at Cinderpelt, and she squeaked, pushing over to her and lifting her head so her nose was up towards her.

"I don't want to affect her Yellowfang…"

"She'll be perfectly fine Cinderpelt." Yellowfang reassured, pushing the kit closer with her nose; her raspy voice fond, "Take care my apprentice, and may you live the life you always wanted."

"Take care Yellowfang." Cinderpelt took a deep breath and touched her nose to the small kits.

"You're safe my kits," Sorreltail trembled, nuzzling her three kits lovingly. Leafpool crouched over her dead mentor's body. The silver tabby-kit opened her eyes, turquoise blue eyes wiser than most, but still contained the innocent kit nature. She squealed and burrowed further into Sorreltail's fur starting to suckle eagerly.

'I'll protect you, Cinderkit.' Cinderpelt murmured from next to the small kit's soul, her invisible form curled tightly around the innocent kit's physical soul form, the kit glowing brightly in contrast to Cinderpelt.
