"Bella, you have to go with me!"

I looked up to see my best friend Kate walk up to me in the dinner where I worked part-time. It was a Saturday and from the way she was dressed, I could already imagine where she wanted it me to go. She was wearing a dark purple sleeveless dress, killer boots and jeans jacket and it was go-to outfit for a night of partying.

"I can't go with you, Kate, I have to work and Danny is already a hand short tonight, because Paul called in sick earlier. I can't leave!" I eyed Danny in the far right corner of the dinner, hoping he would back me up. Paul wasn't really sick tonight and if it would be busy – it never does on a Saturday night – he could just call his wife from upstairs to help.

I just wasn't in any mood to party tonight. Not that it ever was. It just was another thing that could keep me from achieving what I wanted.

"But…" Kate stammered.

"I'm sorry, Kate, but you'll have to find another wingman tonight." For the last six weeks Kate wanted to get the attention of quarterback Garrett, who had been the most eligible man on campus ever since he had broken up with his girlfriend. And Kate was just one of those girls who wanted a chance with him.

I didn't really care about all the drama, but when you had Kate as a friend, you didn't really have a choice to know some of it.

"Fine, I'll go alone," she said disappointed. Not that she really was, because Kate was this social butterfly who was friends with everyone. "Call me when you've changed your mind, or when Danny-boy lets you leave."

I waved her goodbye and continued to work and serve the customers for the rest of the night.

When the clock stroke eleven, Danny send me home. "I can close off, Bells, go home, you've had a long day," he said.

It indeed had been a long day. Before my 8-hour shift at the dinner, I had been working on a group project. So I didn't object him and went home, ready for a long and good sleep in my bed.

Good sleep, my ass.

In the middle of the night, a constant knock on my door woke me up. Looking at my alarm clock, I saw it was 2 o'clock. It couldn't be Kate, because she'd always call me if she needed a place to sleep the night off.

When the knocking didn't stop, I slowly made my way to the door, with a heavy flashlight in hand. You never know.

I looked through the peephole, but I saw nothing. When there was a knock again, I slowly opened the door. 5 seconds later, a guy laid on my floor, looking awfully disoriented. "You're not my room mate," he said.
