Doctor Leonard McCoy carefully, precisely, placed each medical scanner into to just the right slot. Sliding his fingers across the silver edge of the box, the doctor slowly located the latch. He then pulled the lid down, ever so carefully, and did the latch. Satisfied with his correction of what once was a perplexing ensign mishap, Dr. McCoy picked up the medical case. He slid it back into its cupboard and sat back in his desk chair.
Placing his feet up onto his desk, the good doctor crossed his ankles. He leaned back and put his hands behind his head. So far it was a slow day with minimal medical emergencies and not so much emergencies. Leonard smiled a little country tune popping in his head. Closing his eyes, he began to whistle letting the tune to find its way around the sick bay. He listened as the tune mingled with the beeping and clacking of pads and workstations.
A high-pitched whooshing noise swirled into the mix. Doctor McCoy's eyes snapped open just in time to see the great orange blur of light and matter, like a distorted transporter beam, materialized into a young woman. Bones stood abruptly, as Nurse Chapel poked her head in.
"What the h..." started the doctor.
The young women had on a strange orange sweater paired with a pleated, red mini-skirt. Her hair was cut into a dark brown bob and just below her bangs sat a large pair of thick rimmed glasses.
"Jinkies!" she exclaimed weakly, right before she toppled to the sick bay floor.
"Nurse!" ordered McCoy as he rushed to the oddly dressed teen.
However, his order was quite unnecessary as Nurse Chapel was already by his side, med kit in hand. She flung open the kit and went to checking the new patient. Expertly, Dr. McCoy pulled out what he needed. Scanning the visitor with on hand, he simultaneously pressed his communicator badge.
"McCoy to the bridge"
"What is it, Bones?" filtered Kirk's voice through the communicator.
"Captain, we have... a visitor."
