It seemed bizarre to me, how one minute your whole life is ahead of you, but the next minute it's been taken away from you and you're left wondering how bright your future was looking, how you couldn't wait to take a step into that future, and how ever since you were little, you dreamt of that future. It was a clean shot, right through the chest they told you, like you weren't there, like you didn't witness it, but man, did you witness it.

You knew the ride to the hospital was useless, you knew she was dead, you knew. But as he drives you to the hospital (the paramedics kicked him out of the ambulance) you see the blood on his shirt and somehow the blood makes it seem more real and you're afraid to admit it but you don't want to look down at your own clothes because you know that they'll be a match to his. You're not ready to accept the fate that has been dealt to you.

As you are sitting in the hospital in your baby blue dress, covered in dry blood, they tell you she's dead and even though they tried the best they could to save her, it wasn't enough. You feel a single tear slowly developing and before you can wipe at it, it glides down your cheek, dropping onto the white tiled floor. It's all you can take before you break down completely covering your eyes, trying to hide the tears that are rushing down your face like the damn on a river that just broke.

Hours later you lay in bed, with the blankets all around you hoping they will provide you with some sort of comfort, and it runs over and over in your head.

Two hours earlier:

"Do you Catherine Willows take Gil Grissom to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do," she says, smiling the brightest smile you've ever seen on her, well besides the day that he proposed to her.

"Do you Gil Grissom take Catherine Willows to be you lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do," he says and just when the judge continues a loud bang is heard, with blood splattering on you and him, leaving her slumping to the ground.

"MOM!" You yell but she's having a hard time breathing and blood is spurting out of her mouth. You don't notice or hear the commotion behind you, but later found out Captain Brass shot the man, killing him, or that your future step dad is right next to you trying to save your mom.

Right there and then a life changed. Lindsey Willows lost her mom.
