What's up, my peeps! This story is going to be... interesting. So the idea I have popped in my head one day, and I realized I have to write it. This won't be a one-shot, but a series of chapters, and not like After the War, where it was just a compilation of one-shots, but a continuous story. It will a be a Zutara turned Kataang story. So yes, sadly, there will be *shudders* Zutara, but this does NOT mean I ship Zutara! Kataang forever! The only reason I have Zutara in this is because Kataang is endgame. Each character will get a happy ending, btw. Even Zuko! This is probably the only time I will write Zutara, so put away your pitchforks and torches lol. And it's not like I enjoy writing Zutara, it's just so there's some dynamic between Aang and Katara that will lead to their declaration of love 3.

Disclaimer: I don't own Ava tar: The Last Airbender.

Another disclaimer: I'm gonna say it one more time, I don't ship Zutara in anyway shape or form! But I respect the people who do, they have a right to their opinions. :)

Enjoy!

Turtle Ducks: Chapter 1

Someone Else

Zuko lay on the ground, ever single inch of his body was in pain. As Katara was running in fear trying to stay alive from the Fire Nation princess, all he could do is watch it happen. It was terrifying to him. He had to grown to love the waterbender, and would do anything for her. (A/N: It hurts me to write this scene lol.) Finally, when Azula was kept in chains, Katara rushed over to Zuko and bent some water out of her pouch. The water glowed over his scar, and his eyes opened to see Katara's teary-eyed face smiling down at him.

"Thank you, Katara," he said using all of his effort to appreciate her for saving his life.

"I think I'm the one who should be thanking you..." She beamed, tears pouring down her face. Now, it seemed like perfect time to him how she felt.

"I... I love you Zuko." (A/N: Bleh, sorry guys. I'm not going to have them kiss cuz, I don't want that to write that lol. But... just know they're together. For now.)

He smiled at her statement, "I love you too," and slowly took a hold of her hand.

Katara helped him stand up, as they looked down at Azula, who was crying and spitting fire. Katara looked at her new lover with adoration. She had never felt this away about anyone. Or so she thought...

Meanwhile, in the airship heading towards the Fire Nation, Aang stared out the window and sighed.

Sokka hopped over to him, and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, bud. We'll be there soon," Sokka comforted.

Aang faintly smiled at him. "Thanks Sokka."

Sokka patted his back and hopped back to Suki.

As the sea changed to land, Aang knew they entered the Fire Nation, which made the amount of butterflies in his stomach grow bigger. As they approached the palace, he couldn't stop thinking about Katara.

Aang loved her. He loved her more than anyone else in the world and he wanted to say that to her. Not with a kiss, not with some grand gesture, but to just... confess. The war was over, he could finally be in a time of peace and harmony, and pour his heart out to Katara about how he feels. Whether the feelings are mutual or not. She knew how he felt, but he wanted to tell her exactly what she means to him.

As the palace came into view, Aang smiled with anticipation. "Finally," he muttered.

When the airship landed, Aang walked out to see Katara and Zuko! They were alive, and looked happy... and were holding hands.

Aang felt his heart start to crack, but pushed to thought away so he could greet his friends.

"It's so good to see you, Aang!" Katara hugged him with small tears in her eyes.

"It's good to see you too..." Aang replied, and turned to hug Zuko to congratulate him as well.

When Sokka, Toph, and Suki came out of the airship, everyone shared hugs and stories. Aang tried to listen to his friends, but still was lost in thought by Katara and Zuko holding hands.

What could this mean? He wondered. Are they together? Has Katara forgot about everything we went through? I mean, Zuko is a great person, and I wouldn't have been able to defeat the Firelord without him but... does Katara really have feelings for him. Do they really feel that way about-

Aang's train of thought was cut off by Katara voice declaring something.

"Zuko and I have an announcement to make." Katara smiled at Zuko with a blush. "We are... we are together."

Aang's heart was cracked, but now it sunk to the bottom of his stomach. Seeing Katara with another person didn't seem... right to him. He knew he sounded selfish, and he knew it was wrong, but he couldn't stop himself. And... seeing that smile on Katara's face as she looked at all the people she cared about, the despair went away. It still hurt, but knowing Katara was happy, and with the one she loves, he was happy to.

Katara knew that Aang wouldn't be happy to know that she and Zuko were together, and when she looked at Aang after her announcement, he was... smiling. He looked happy for them. Which made Katara surprised, confused, and happy. But she needed to speak with him about their relationship. She loved him, but as a friend. After all they have been through, he deserved a good conversation between them as... friends.

She knew how he felt and wanted to talk.

He knew how she felt and wanted to be happy for her.

Both wouldn't know where to begin.

That's the end of the first chapter of Turtle Ducks! You'll understand why it's called Turtle Ducks later. I tried to make it the least Zutara as possible, but still make it clear that Zutara is a thing. The next chapter will be a discussion between Aang and Katara, so stay tuned! Don't expect any more Zutara content on this account, I just wrote Zutara because Kataang is endgame. And there is so much Zutara fanfiction that I feel like there's no need for one more. Expect the next chapter for this and After the War coming soon! See ya later, my peeps!
