"Sam, I need to talk to you"
"So you finally came to your senses and want me back?" he said playfully, with a wink to emphasise his point.
"Haha, in your dreams Anakin Skywalker! I mean, have you seen my life partner?" laughed Santana. "Yes I have, and she's a good kisser if I remember rightly" he replied. "Hey! Don't remind me of the time you guys were drunk. But yes, yes she is."
Santana's face lit up at the thought of her.
"So, this is obviously not about you needing a beard again. What did you wanna talk about?" the blond continued.
"I think you know, to be honest. Me and Britt… we really want a baby."
"So you want my premium grade baby batter to make it possible?" Sam smiled, looking at Santana who was now nervously gazing at the floor as if she was going to be rejected.
"Yeah" she replied quietly.
"I thought you'd never ask. I'd be glad to. I know you guys are gonna be awesome parents."
Santana met Sam's eyes, relief written all over her face. He swore he could actually see happy tears. "Thank you so much" she gasped, pulling him into a tight embrace before letting herself cry in absolute joy.
As soon as the hug ended, Santana wiped her eyes on her sleeve. "Wait 'til I tell Britt, she's gonna be so happy" she giggled. She turned around to the table behind her, got something out of her bag and started to scribble something down.
"What's that?" asked Sam.
"A check. It's only fair we give you something back. You can use it to help your family."
Santana pushed the slip of paper into his hand which he promptly gave back. "No. Seeing you guys happy is enough for me. Besides, I have a job that pays pretty damn well now so I can already provide for them as it is."
She nodded and took the check back, knowing it was useless pushing the matter because Sam could be just as stubborn as she was sometimes. "The offer still stands if you ever change your mind though" Santana said.
"I know. I've just got one request though. If it's a boy… can you call him Luke? It'd be awesome if later down the line I can be like 'I am your father, Luke.'"
"I thought the like was, 'Luke, I am your father'?" said Santana, scrunching her face up, slightly confused.
"That's actually not true. It's a common misconception. But seriously, could you do that?"
"No, Sam."
