A/N This is just a quick little story I wrote. ENJOY!
It was a queer day on the Monday in November that this all happened on. Ted was a system kid. He was constantly bounced from home to home because he was never the perfect little angel anyone wanted. He was always aloof from other kids his age and didn't seem to fit in anywhere. He was a nonentity to most, but he wasn't normal to say the least. He had an obsession with computers, and was excellent at codes and breaking them. He did not flaunt his powers or bask in the admiration he got, but kept perusing through all of the books on code in the library. What was even more peculiar was he was only sixteen and was due to graduate college in the spring. If only Ted knew what was coming for him.
Ted was running late to class on Monday morning. Time kept slipping by while he was hacking into the government's main computer system. If you were to ask him why, he would give you the simple answer of wanting to see if he could do it. By six in the morning, he had to muster all of his strength to stay awake and go to class in an hour. Ted had a solicitous premonition of someone following him while he was walking through the parking lot. There was a black vehicle slowly trailing through the parking lot, but Ted put it off as a coincidence. Right before he got to the doors the car quickly block the path and three people got out of the car. They told him that he was under arrest under the jurisdiction of the state, and shoved him into the backseat. He rapidly asserted that he was innocent, but they ignored him. When they asked for his name he gave them the pseudonym he used for all of his papers. While in the holding cell, he was aghast at how grimy the place was. Inside his head thoughts were racing through his mind. He wondered if he left any tracks in the computer, but that was not plausible because he always remembered to cover them. He could just imagine his epitaph now. Here lies Ted, the boy who remained resolute even though he was fighting a hopeless battle. After several agonizing hours he fell asleep in the holding cell.
While barely awake, he heard a nearly inaudible sound nearby. A ghostly pale man walked up to the bars asking if he could chat with Ted. At first Ted thought he was seeing an apparition, but he soon realized that the man was not a dream. The man introduced himself as John Galden from the MI5. John had a very blasé manner for one who worked undercover as a spy, but he was very prone to tripping over his own feet. Whenever John asked Ted a question, he responded with facetious remarks instead of genial replies. Eventually John lost his patience and began to shout at Ted to pay close attention to what he was saying because it could change Ted's live forever. Ted, who was now cowering, gave a small nod and became very still. John warned that if he ever repeated what he said to anyone else there would be repercussions. He said that the MI5 had been watching Ted for years and wanted to recruit him to be part of a special group of kids his age that each had a strong ability in a certain aspect of going undercover. Ted had many qualms about joining them, but he was also very intrigued with the idea of becoming a spy. He was worried about his home life because he would have to move to England is he accepted the offer. After an ample amount of time, he made his decision. He was going to London.
