A Night Away
"It is so gorgeous up here." Jackie said in a breathy voice.
"Yeah it is." Nick agreed.
The couple sat on a steep ridge looking at the stars.
The ridge was just a few miles from the Blue Diamond resort and it was absolutely the perfect place to look at the stars.
"Want some wine?" Nick asked her.
"Please." She responded.
"I hope this wine is good, it should be for fifty dollars a bottle." Nick commented as he handed her a glass.
"You spent 50 dollars on a bottle of wine, are you crazy?"
"We are celebrating, relax." He responded.
"What are we celebrating?" She asked.
"The fact that you are still speaking to me." He told her with a grin.
She laughed.
"And remember a few weeks ago when we went to the casino I won $100." He said.
"Yeah I didn't like that trip to the casino." She told him.
"How come?"
"Because I didn't win anything, I lost." He laughed.
"That's a switch, you always win and I always lose."
"That's true, I guess it was your turn." She conceded.
He smiled at her.
"I left there broke though, if I remember right I didn't even have enough money to buy my coffee on the way out, you had to take pity on me and buy it for me."
"Yeah, but I'm a nice guy so I didn't make you go thirsty."
She laughed.
"How kind of you dear." She took a drink of her wine.
"Yuck." She said as she made a grossed-out face.
"Seriously?" He asked incredulously.
"Got you. It's actually very good." She told him with a huge grin.
"You are terrible."
Her grin got bigger.
He wrapped his arm around her.
"In all seriousness though, thank you for this Nicky, it was very relaxing."
"Yeah, it's been nice."
"I do have one favor to ask though." Jackie said.
"What's that?"
"In the morning before we head back to Vegas can we eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant, they have the best chocolate muffins I've ever eaten."
"You couldn't drag me out of the hotel in the morning without stopping for breakfast, the omelet that I had last time was amazing, plus the thing was huge, it covered my entire plate."
"I remember that, I've never seen an omelet that big." Jackie told him with a laugh.
"Yeah, we should each get a muffin and share an omelet, it would be plenty."
"Sounds good to me." Jackie agreed.
"Ready to head back to the hotel?" He asked her after they had sat there for well over an hour staring at the beautiful scenery with Jackie's head on Nick's shoulder.
"Yeah." She answered.
He jammed the cork back in the still nearly full wine bottle as best he could and then placed it in a box in the trunk so if it leaked it wouldn't get on Nick's truck interior, although it was white wine (Jackie's favorite) so it would make far less a mess if it did somehow get spilled in the truck.
As they drove back to the hotel Nick or Jackie couldn't have been happier, this night away for just the two of them was exactly what they both needed!
The End!
