"What Are Your Chains?"
We have things
That keep us from doing God's will
Some, like me, the chains
Are fear and worries.
I fear that I will look like a fool
And I worry to much about tomorrow
Not willing to let God have full control of tomorrow
Others, their chains are themselves
They worry about their "rep"
Their image
So instead of seeing God as Almighty
They see themselves
Others see the blood that's on their hands
And let it stop them.
They believe they are not good enough
To receive God's Eternal Love
Even though they already have it
Many let idols blind them
From what is true.
Video Games, school work, friends
All these things will never last
But they reach for them anyways
Instead of reaching for the Living Water
Of Christ.
Only Jesus has the key
To unlock those chains we all wear.
He hands it to us
So why aren't we taking it-
His gift of freedom within our grasp.
Think for a second, and you don't have to tell me, but what are the chains you have (or once had) that keeps you from Christ?
Hopefully this will help you clear your sight and see you next week for next week's poem! :)
