Quite as he tried to be, he had not been quiet enough. Two members of the League had woken in the night and seen him go to her door and into her smiling arms. They did not like him. He was not what the League was about. Too individual. So was she, but she was Ra's daughter, so they had to show her respect. But not him. Why did she favour him anyway? He was a monster.
They waited until the early hours to go to Ra's. They waited until they would both be asleep – better to spring on Bane while his defences were down. Within minutes of the informers waking him, Ra's had eight of his best men at her door.

The door exploded open and men dressed in head to toe black flooded the room. Bane and Talia's training held them back briefly but there was no beating the hoard as they descended on Bane. Bringing him to the ground. Ra's stepped in and pulled the screaming, fighting Talia off the men.

In his rage he had grabbed her roughly by the hair. She struggled to pry his fingers off as he thundered them through the halls and out into the courtyard. He ignored the rain that pounded down in heavy sheets, the sky was dark with clouds, and the sun was still below the mountains. Her thin cotton pyjamas were instantly soaked through and clung to her body. Ra's released her with a shove and she fell onto the smooth stones. "Stand up", he yelled, barely audible above the thundering rain. She stood. In the rush and noise and the yelling she did not know what they had done with him. She was crying but it was barely noticeable, the rain and her hair stuck to her face hid any tears. "Turn around", he ordered, as he roughly held her shoulders and forced her to face the mountains and into the rain. "You stay here until every trace of him is washed away. How dare you disrespect me like this!" he screamed at the back of her head. He spun on his heel and stormed back towards the barracks, and just over the roar of the rain he thought he heard her say "It wasn't about you".

The sun rose and fell, and still she stood there. Stubborn. Resolute. The rain had not stopped all day and she was frozen and soaked to the bone. She had wrapped her arms around herself to try fight the cold, but as the sky grew greyer and darker, she could not hold out any more. Her arms dropped loosely to her sides and the trembling stopped. Her eyes rolled back in her head and her legs gave way. She landing on the wet, cold stones in a crumpled heap.

Ra's had sat in his private quarters all day, watching her stubborn display. How could she be so foolish. How could she betray him. He watched her fall. Two of his men were sent out to bring her in - he would not get rained on, not for her. Talia was carried to the infirmary and wrapped in several blankets by the fire. Ra's came and stood over her as she slowly came back to consciousness - her lungs were heaving in deep breaths and the doctor reported she had a fever. He stood with his hands clasped behind his back and with no emotion he told her that "He's gone".

She knew Bane would not have left her without a fight. In time she would find out that it took a dozen men to bring him down. He had been bound, taken a days travel into the wilderness of the mountains, and left. "Such a thing...", she rasped, "...to have the one you love taken from you". She fixed Ra's with a knowing look, "Imagine such a thing".
