"Remember that your father never left you. He's still here, watching over you, like an angel."- Nicole Thomas
Dean had fought with all he had that night. When he looked to his right he saw Kingsley Shacklebolt blocking spells far more advanced than the ones they'd learnt about during their DADA classes.
There seemed to be Death Eaters coming from everywhere; a never ending torrent of evil doers flooding the place that was a home away from home for so many of them.
Bodies from both sides of this gruesome war lay all around him, but he kept going, kept fighting; he had no choice.
Suddenly a beam of Green was headed directly toward him. He knew that this was it. This was the end. His mother would have to go through losing a son now, too. His little sisters were too young to understand. He rarely saw them anyway. His stepfather would try his hardest to be the pillar that held the family together, but on the inside he'd be dying, too because Dean was the only son he'd ever had or would ever have.
He wondered what it would feel like to die. Would his heart stop first, leaving him to feel those few seconds because his brain was still working? Would his brain stop first, allowing him to leave this world without pain?
He heard a loud thud that also displaced him from the ground for a brief moment. When he landed on his feet, he opened his eyes and saw the 15 foot giant that had collapsed in death right in front of him; the attacker must have been crushed in the fall.
Dean hollered in exuberance! He continued to fight with a renewed vigor. Silently he thanked his father who was still protecting him from beyond the grave.
So when people asked him why he was smiling from ear to ear after the battle had ended with victory for the Light, he just smiled harder and said:
"My father has taught me to enjoy each moment I have on this earth."
