Luigi gazed up at the starry sky of the mushroom kingdom silent as ever. It was over, for now, they had helped stop the shroobs in the past. Creating the future their younger selves had. His eyes gazed down to the tiny hammer in his hands, a smile tugged at his lips. He honestly wasn't expecting it as a gift, he knew there were little things he held dear to himself when he was younger, thus is meant a lot he was given this.
The younger brother closed his eyes, he now knew the truth. When he was younger he always remembered words of encouragement, promises of a future that was great. A story of how he saved his brother he loved dearly. These sparked hope in his younger years, helping him hold up his chin and smiled through the tears.
Now, he knew it wasn't his mother who spoke these words, but he himself.
It was during a breaktime they were taking to feed the two babies before heading back to the past to look for another shard. Luigi found his brother was rather good with kids, and easily made his younger self stop crying.
Luigi hardly had such luck, if anyone where to describe him he was very much the confused father. He tried everything he could think of to get Baby Luigi to stop crying. Though he knew why his younger cried, he didn't know how to help it.
He frowned a bit as he looked at Baby Luigi and rubbed his chin. He sighed softly and picked up the little one, the tears soon stopped as the baby looked up at him with pouting lips and tear stained cheeks. Luigi looked at the baby with a small smile on his lips as he hugged the other close.
Baby Luigi seemed to take to this and hugged onto him with small sobs. "Shhhh." Luigi said softly to him patting his head carefully, "You're safe right now, and that's all that matters." He told his younger self. "For the time you are with me, I won't let anyone hurt you, I promise."
The smaller one looked up at him with bright blue eyes, Luigi smiled at him warmly. "You will be a great brother, someday you will be strong. Someday your brother will need you to be the saver. Someday you'll help so many people, make great friends, and find a love like no other." He promised him softly.
Baby Luigi blinked at that looking up at him with innocent eyes, as if understanding what was being said to him. "So, keep your head up, you are strong, you are perfect, and you are a good brother. Lucky to have Mario as your brother and he is lucky you are his. Don't let anyone tell you different to you."
Baby Luigi seemed to smile at him and laughed happily at that as Luigi smiled at him and hugged him again. Luigi closed his eyes, he knew when he was younger that was all he wanted anyone to tell him.
And now he knew that it was he himself who gave that courage to the younger him.

Yeah just a cutesy one shot I had in mind. I love Luigi, while I get that Mario does care in his own way, I feel that others when he was baby always put him down for being weaker but somehow he got through.
What do you think?
I don't own Mario.
