"And in a pipe she flies to the Motherland, or sells love to another man. It's too cold outside for angels to fly. An angel will die... covered in white."
A Team.
She tightens the coat tighter around herself. Her hands are shaking as anxiousness fills up inside of her and as the cold air caresses her skin. Closing her eyes slowly, she breathes in the chilly air as a breeze passes by, a car pulling over to her. Her legs move over to the passenger window, her elbows resting on the door as the window drags itself down.
Her face stoic, the man named Asher lets her inside his car and quickly begins to unclothe her harshly. She bites her lip to not cry and protest as the man pleasures himself with her body for minutes that feel forever for her. When he's finally done with her, he throws money on top of her and pushes her out of his car, winking at her.
"See you later, precious."
And he drives off, leaving her half naked on the street. It's when she's finally alone when she cries silently and sinks to the floor, counting the money and smiling through her tears. Shoving the money into the pocket of her coat, she stands up and walks quickly to the alley behind The Dot and rests herself against the brick wall. Her hand lingers inside the back pocket of her jeans before taking out the plastic bag.
She struggles opening up the zip lock until – finally! She has it open, and slowly, her hands shaking, she puts the white powder on the back of her thumb and brings it up to her nose, hesitant. Her jaw begins to shake and quickly enough, she inhales, and then breathes out, sinking down the wall.
Her hand runs through her hair and she begins to pull on the roots frustrated. Once again, she gets the plastic bag, but then drops it over herself, and she curses.
"Shit."
The back door of the café opens up, and a man with dark hair walks out and takes out a cigarette to smoke. She curses again once she realizes who it is and tries to get rid of the white powder over her lap and the man lets go of the cigarette slowly, his brows raising, and he looks at the girl staring at him, crying.
"…Edwards?"
She's chanting in her head, nononono. She stands up and gets away from him quickly, and he moves closer to her and grabs her hand, looking at her palm. His shoulders fall, his jaw clenching and his eyes closing. She gulps loudly, trying to push his hand away from hers.
"Let go!" She yells, falling on the floor, putting her free hand over her mouth. "Let go… please."
"Just when I thought you were different than all the idiots in our school, too," he mutters to himself, and she stares at him like a lost dog.
No, she thinks again, and he falls on the floor with her, still not letting go of her hand. They sit in the darkness, her hands shaking, and he grabs both her hands tightly, and he stares at her. He's judging me, is her only thought, his eyes boring into her. I just know it.
She swallows. "You don't understand."
He shakes his head, not responding.
"Eli…?"
He bites his lip. "You're just…" He trails off, bringing her in to rest her head on his chest. "...Such an idiot."
She clutches his jacket, her mouth opening to let out a scream. He closes his eyes, comforting her by patting her back softly. When her screams stop, she pushes him away and stands up, wiping her eyes.
"I need to go."
His eyes snap open, and he looks up. "Where?"
"Away from you."
And she begins to walk out of the alley, and he stands on his knee and grabs her hand, making her stop with a halt.
"Don't die, okay?"
She smiles, closing her eyes and walking again. Her hand rises and she waves at him before turning the corner.
"You idiot."
