It had been a long night for Gray, having gotten both Jellal and Laxus arrested for their part in betraying him and sending him to hell at the Cheatu d'If. He proceeded to shed his cloak when he heard the faintest whisper.

"Gray."

He pulled his rapier out and saw his former love, Juvia, step out of the shadows.

"I thought we had finished our conversation in the carriage," he said coldly as he put his sword down.

"So did I. Until I realized; you said the name Fullbuster. The name that I had never mentioned."

Gray grimaced; he couldn't believe he slipped up like that. He turned away from her.

"What do you want of me?"

"I want to be free of you. The way you obviously are free of me. Just a few answers from you and I shall be gone forever."

He turned back to her as threw his cloak down onto a nearby chair.

"Ask your questions," he replied curtly.

Juvia took a seat on the couch; wondering which one of the many she had to ask first. She decided on finding out what happened after his arrest.

"Where have you been?"

"Five years in the Cheatu d'If. And everywhere else you can imagine."

Juvia choked back her tears.

"The Cheatu d'If for five years?! Did you suffer?"

"Are you finished now? I have a good deal on my mind," Gray replied exasperatedly as he turned away and walked away from her.

"What happened afterward?"

"Much!"

"Why did you not come to me," Juvia cried as she ran to him.

"Why did you not wait," he cried facing her. "You married Lyon! The very man who betrayed me!"

As he was yelling, Juvia took her glove off her left hand to reveal the simple string still wrapped around her ring finger. Gray's eyes went wide in surprise and confusion.

"I told you that night on the rocks. Remember? That it would never leave my finger. And it never has."

Tears had begun to fall from her eyes.

"Why?!"

"You know why."

"If you ever loved me!" Gray was trying to fight back his tears and sorrow. "Don't! Don't rob me of my hate! It's all I have!"

"Let it go Gray! Let it go. I don't know what dark plan lies with in you. Nor do I know by what design we were asked to live without each other these eight years. But God has offered us a new beginning don't slap His hand away!"

"God? Can I never escape Him," Gray asked sorrowfully.

"No," said Juvia with a smile through her tears. "He is in everything. Even in a kiss."

Both Juvia and Gray slowly leaned in. It started out chastely, but once he tasted her lips for the first time in so long, the passion he felt then came back like he never felt before. He grabbed her and pressed his lips forcefully to hers. Both of them tasting each other like they used to. Juvia wrapped her arms around his shoulders as Gray kept a tight grip on her waist. The moonlight pouring into the room as they fell into one another for a night of passion that had long been denied to either of them.

This is based off of my favorite scene from the movie "Count of Monte Cristo" released in 2002. I've wanted to imagine this scene with the right characters and then, it hit me, Gruvia! The perfect angsty couple. Hope you enjoyed this!
