Lena's P.O.V.

I looked up from under water. He was back again. He was close enough to the edge for me to grab him. I was the quickest and cleverest of my sisters. Roxana said so herself. I popped my head out of the water enough so only my eyes were above.

" Good evening Lena." Patton smiled.

I scowled at him. I lifted my head fully above the water. " Patton What are you doing back so soon? I would think a man like you would have plenty to do. With being the future caretaker."

" If you like I could show you around the property? All you would have to do is leave the water for a bit." He said.

I smiled and swam towards him. " I could show you around the pond. I promise my sister won't touch you at all. Besides the water is quiet fine today."

" The land is quiet dry today." Patton retorted.

I felt someone pull on my leg and I went back under. It was Sylvia. " What?" I hissed.

" Stop talking and bring him down. This is the closet he's ever been." Sylvia said.

" You know I like to play a little cat and mouse with my prey." I said. " Relax. I'll have him down in seconds."

I swam back over to where he was but stayed under. He had the guts to dangle his leg in the water. He of all people should know that it is a stupid move to make. I reached my hand up to grab him but he pulled away just before I was able to even touch his leg. I popped my head up and glared at him.

" You're very quick but I saw the water movements." He smiled down at me.

" It was foolish of you to put your leg in the water. If it was one of my sisters they would have drowned you without a second thought" I sneered.

" Would you have given it a second thought Lena?" He asked.

I scowled. " What a ridiculous question. Of course I wouldn't have. I am a naiad after all. It's against my nature."

" It is against your nature to care?"

I scowled at him again. I pulled myself up a bit on to the concrete leaning my arms against the concrete but keeping most of my body in the water. He was so close I would just have to reach out and grab him.

" No. It is not in my nature to care for a mortal who dies so quickly. Where as I can live for eternity." I smirked.

He dug through his pockets and pulled out a coin. " Do you know what this is Lena?" He asked.

" A solid gold coin." I said.

" Yes. It belongs to my great-great grandfather. I thought it would be a nice token to give to you my love."

I held out my hand and he out the coin in it. Before he let it drop in my hand he hovered. Waiting to see if I would grab him and drown him. I didn't.

" You are quite different from your sister Lena."

I hesitated for second. " What was that wooden thing you brought the other day?"

He smiled. " That my dear was a violin."

" What is a violin?"

" You play music with it. Perhaps I could bring it tomorrow and play a tune for you."

I smiled. " You would have to come later at night when most of my sisters have retired to their beds. I normally stay up late for anyone that travels to close."

" Well I guess I'll see you tonight than." Patton said. " Until than."

He got up and left. I watched him go. I looked at the coin in my hand and put in a small pocket that I had on my slip. I dove back down to see my disappointed sisters when I told them he had moved to the gazebos after Sylvia pulled me down since he got worried about getting pulled in."
