Hello everyone, this is Demons Anarchy of Pride. Now, you guys are probably wondering, "Shouldn't you be focusing on getting your groove back for Lelouch of the Rebellion R-eset?" Well, you are not wrong. In fact… this is the reason I'm writing this. It's to help me get back into the swing of things. Some of you guys might remember the first fanfiction I wrote, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Lost Colors –A New Translation-, which is absolutely horrible in my opinion. That's why I've decided to reboot it, and with an actual storyline this time around.
With that in mind, I welcome you to Lost Colors: A New Translation!
Lost Colors: A New Translation
C's World.
It is an endless void, trapped within a moment of time. Masses of clouds gathered all around, colored a pale, yet brilliant color of red and yellow mixed together to create the perfect shade of orange. Despite the setting appearing as the beautiful moment of sunset, the sun itself was not present.
This domain is a world where the unconsciousness of humanity is gathered. Metaphorically speaking, it is a realm where the hearts of men and their desires, dreams, and their very being are collected. It is for this reason that the being known as God within this domain is also known as the "Collective Subconscious".
Once, an ambitious man, a king of a nation that ruled over a third of the world, had sought a world where people did not lie. When he and his brother were young, the times they lived in were the perfect definition of hell. Their siblings died at every corner, the people scorning their very being, and assassination plots dealt with constantly. The world was filled with lies, and they were fed up with it. The brother had obtained immortality, and with it, a power to grant others a supernatural ability known as Geass. It was also known as the Power of the King.
The meeting of the woman known as C.C. had led the brothers to their desired goal, to create the world where people did not lie, and humans would now live without a mask to hide their true intentions. However, the brother betrayed the boy by killing his wife, and using his daughter. To protect his children, the man had used his Geass to falsify the girl's memories, and cast off his son and daughter, in order to protect them.
The name of this man… was Charles zi Britannia, the 98th Emperor of the Holy Empire of Britannia.
Seven years after Charles cast off his children, he resumed his plans. However, his son, Lelouch vi Britannia, had risen up to lead a rebellion against his father, donning the persona of a revolutionary by the name of "Zero". Other than this façade to lead the coming storm against Britannia, his former homeland, he had two great powers.
The first was his organization… the Black Knights. They were the ones that would punish what the law would overlook, or cast a blind eye to. Regardless if the victims were Britannians or Japanese, they would defend the weak, and fight against the oppressors. His second great power was Geass, which granted him the power to make any person obey him without question.
However, in time, the power grew behind his reach, and it eventually brought him tragedy. His friend scorned him, and the deaths of countless people were spilled on the hands of the sister who wished to help him. His friend betrayed him, and brought him before his father, reduced to being nothing but a pawn meant to lure out the woman who gave him the power of Geass, C.C.
However, in a year, he had returned, and once more, Zero was born. This time, however, his friend had become his greatest enemy, and his sister, now pitted against him. The woman who had loved him had perished, and his sister was gone before his eyes. Anguish gripped his heart, and before long, his own organization betrayed him.
However, his anguish and despair did not bring about the end of him. Instead, it brought forth a new resolution. Lelouch confronted his father, and learned how Charles zi Britannia could bring about the new world order where lies did not exist.
The Sword of Akasha, a tool that would kill "God", and unite all humans, both living and dead. Even the boy's mother had sided with him. Lelouch rejected his desires, seeking to create the world where his sister could live in peace. He brought an end to the Sword of Akasha, and defeated his parents. His friend had chosen to side with him, in order to bring about the greatest miracle that Zero had to offer.
To this end, Lelouch vi Britannia became the enemy of the world, igniting the Third Pacific War, and earning the moniker "Lelouch the Demon". The Black Knights failed to defeat him, and the world was now in the palm of his hand. He had won.
And all that was left was for him to be killed… at the hands of his friend, dressed in the garb of Zero.
With the death of the enemy of the world, all the hatred would vanish, leaving a world where people need only sit a table and discuss matters rather than solve everything with violence and bullets. This plan came to be known as the Zero Requiem.
Observing the world in the final stages of the plan, from within the domain called C's World, was a young man. He was aged at sixteen, wearing a black uniform with golden trims, his feet oddly barefoot, and the blazer open to reveal a crisp-white buttoned shirt. His hair was the color of snow, silver steel acting as sheen to it, and his eyes a pale, cool shade of azure. One knee was up to his chest, both arms wrapped around it with his head drooped down, and the other leg hanging over the edge of the platform.
Within the World of C is a temple interior, possessing a design one could find in a Greek Parthenon or something akin to it. The young boy has resided in this domain since before tragedy befell Lelouch vi Britannia, back during the first rebellion against his homeland. "Lelouch…" the boy whispered to himself, a tear falling from his eye, streaming down his face before it stopped at his chin, hanging on before it fell straight into the abyss.
He had been here before, the boy recalled from the memories of which he had lost years ago. At first, he remembered nothing of his past, all save for one name: Rai. He awoke in a school known as Ashford Academy, the place of residence for Lelouch vi Britannia and his younger sister, Nunnally. He did not know how long he remained at the academy, but he recalled that his time there had left an impression on him, a sense of home he had not felt before. Perhaps, in a way, the Student Council had become like a family to him without realizing it.
However, he, like Lelouch, was given the power of Geass… and like Lelouch, it had brought him tragedy. Though he fought at his side, he did not want Lelouch or anyone close to him to suffer, so he had once again come to this place. The last time he came here was when the one who gave him the Power of the King was to ensure that he would not break their promise, and sealed him away.
The second time, however, was not for the purpose of being locked away. Rather, here… he was to be erased from existence. Those close to him would not recall him, nor would they remember him. He would no longer exist in this world, a fate he would gladly accept.
What good is being having bonds if the person you have made a bond with will only entail suffering?
That had been what he thought, but… Lelouch still continued to suffer. Still, he continued to fight, and eventually, the world he sought to make for his sister was made a reality. But… surely, someone as brilliant as Lelouch should have known it… he should have figured it out simply by the loving gaze and bond he had with his sister, Nunnally.
All she wanted… was to be with her brother.
How is it that he could not have seen it? How could he have not have realized it until the very end?
The Hatred Has Passed…
The boy looked up at the sky. Voices echoed, all different as they spoke in unison. Some sounded young, others older, and the rest in old age. The voices of children, of boys and girls, of men and women, of old were brought together in harmony.
This was God, he realized. This was the being that Charles sought to eradicate.
And Yet… Grief Continues…
He knew why. Despite the fact that Lelouch placed himself as the demon, there were some that realized his true intentions, right at the very end. They now realized that the man they had betrayed was a selfless person, willing to sacrifice everything for the one he loved… for the sister he would gladly destroy the world for. Now, those people wept for him, for the demon that had destroyed the word, and created it anew.
Do You Wish To Change The World? Just As He Has?
The boy said nothing at first. He stood up, his body straight as an arrow while he looked out into C's World in it's full glory, his hands curling.
Regret began to dance in his heart when he saw Lelouch continue to be burdened with sorrow and grief. He should have stayed, but if he had, then would he have brought pain to his friends… no, would he have brought pain to the family he had made at Ashford? He grew into the Black Knights as a warrior, and he grew into Ashford Academy as an individual. If he had stayed… then perhaps Lelouch would not have had to become the one that would bear the hatred of the world.
He had to fix this.
Though no words were spoken, the voices that spoke around him sounded pleased. He understood why. Lelouch had saved God, and as a result, he had saved humans as a whole. Of course, he had not been alone. By himself, his Geass would only have just touched the Collective Subconscious, not fully grasp it. Thus, an extra push was needed, the power of the Kings that made all bow before them bearing a full grasp on the pool of humanity's will. This would be their way of saying thanks, their way of returning the favor.
Then, You Accept This Contract?
This time, a verbal command was given. "I do." he answered with determination, his hands now balling into fists. Slowly, the clouds parted, and revealed black gears. God needed not to speak anymore, all that was left was for him to fulfill his new role.
The gears spun wildly, and the world around him slowly breaking apart. The sunset's light became brighter, slowly starting to overcome his being. He looked up, and raised his hand to the sky, as if reaching for something. The mark of Geass flashed in his right eye, soon accompanied by his left. Like Lelouch, the Power of the King had reached it's full potential as well.
The light had begun to fully embrace him. He welcomed it, and quickly snapped his hand shut. "I swear…" he promised to himself. "This time… I won't run away. Whatever suffering and pain that comes our way, I'll bear it… it's the least I can do, right?"
A small smile appeared on his face. "…Lelouch?"
Finally, the light engulfed him. As they say in theatre, "and the rest… is silence."
And so begins a new translation upon the warped history of Lelouch vi Britannia.
