The following takes places into the not so distant future…

It was a rainy night when Hikigaya heard a knock on his office door and quickly downed a glass of whiskey he had just poured, and then turned to see who it was. He stood tall at 2 meters and weighed 120 kg. He had a corner office, and outside were bright flashing neon lights from a distance. At the moment, the rain lightly hit his curtain-downed window glass. The outline was definitely of a woman... one with more curves than a single wave. He stashed the whiskey in his left desk drawer next to his revolver and said, "Come on in."

The door opened, revealing an attractive woman in a white dress. The girl had long, wavy blond hair and purple eyes. Her hair is tied up in a bun on her left side of her head to present roses. There were purple pins underneath her bun, which looked like rose petals. The rest of her wavy hair comes out from the two buns. She also has two wavy bangs that ended at her chest and she was rather a very curvaceous figure. She lowered her sunglasses and gave Hikigaya an appraising look. "Are you Mr. Hikigaya? Mr. Hachiman Hikigaya, Sergeant Detective?"

"That's me, honey," answered Hikigaya. "And who might you be?"

"I'm Araragi," the dame said. "Arashi Araragi, the front desk said I should talk to you."

"They certainly must like me," Hikigaya said sarcastically. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

Araragi sat in a chair in his office and had her purse on her lap. "There is, Mr. Hikigaya," she said nervously. "I wish to know...where a friend of mine is."

Hikigaya leaned back in his chair. "I see, so what's the name?" he said as he took out the bottle of whiskey and pen and notepad. "Well, alright, sit down and I'll help you get started with a few things."

Noticing the bottle and glass, she said a remark.

"You're drinking at work?"

"Personally I don't really give a damn and so does the Captain…. Want a drink, Miss?"

"No, thank you."

"Alright then, so who is this friend of yours?"

She took out a photo from her purse, and put it on the desk. He looked at the photo, and the person looked familiar. Then it him hard like a train, the black hair, blue eyes, and the soft coldness, it was his old classmate, Yukino Yukinoshita.

"Well it looks like, we have the same friend then…. Did something happen?"

Looking surprised, she noted this knowledge.

"Strange, Yukino never told me about you."

That hurt Hikigaya a lot at hearing that.

"I'm sorry; I wasn't trying to insult you."

"Nevermind, just continue."

"Well okay….My family; the Araragi are a branch family and close friends of the Yukinoshita for a long time. I have been one of their friends since we were kids. But I lost contact with her for some time now."

"How long ago exactly was it?"

"Give or take, a week at least I expect."

"Do you have any idea where she went?"

"She told me, she was vacationing in Scandinavia."

"That's a lot of ground to cover. Is there anything more specific to add?"

"I'm sorry, but that's all I can give you. I wish I could help more."

She took out a business card from her purse and handed it to him.

"If you know anything else, please contact me." She grimly replied.

"I'll see to it."

"Thank you for helping." She said before exiting out the door.

Hikigaya looked through his desk, and found his cigars.

"This is going to be a long night." He thought.

Getting out a lighter, and a cigar, he had himself a smoking break.

The next day…

The city, crafted of the towering sepultures of human achievements. The rainy night gave way to a dull gray cloudy sky of the day. Hikigaya went home during the night, and he was off back to work on the street. He and his partner were assigned to a homicide case. Arriving at the scene which was an alley, Hikigaya found his partner has arrived right before him.

"About time you show up." His partner remarked.

The detective was Mr. Yamato Yamamoto; he was a father of three. He was a medium build and graying black hair, and brown eyes.

"I just word of it ten minutes ago," replied Hikigaya.

The two pulled up the police tape and walked over to the corpse. The victim had a thin build; he had black hair and gray eyes.

"So Mr. Sato, what have you found so far?" Hikigaya asked the Medical Examiner.

"Besides having his throat cut?" responded the ME handing over the victim's wallet to his partner Detective Yamamoto, who stood nearby. "From the way the victim was laying. He was stabbed from behind. He never noticed his own murderer."

"The victim's name is Kira Kirigaya. A high school student judging from his uniform and ID. There's a couple of yen and cards in here, but nothing much." Mr. Yamamoto noted. "So what's the time stamp?"

"I estimate the murder happened around two hours ago."

"So far, as we can tell. It's not a robbery." Hikigaya remarked. "Think it's personal?"

"Probably, I'll go contact the next of kin. You should help in searching the area."

"Yeah, yeah, I got it."

The alley was abnormally well kept. The locals must use have you used this path often. Looking by a bunch of trash bags, Hikigaya found something not right.

"Guys, over here, I think I found something." He said waving over to people.

One officer gave him a plastic glove and bag. From the trash, Hikigaya grabbed the gun and put it in the bag.

"Hand this over for evidence, check for the prints, and see if it is still loaded."

"Understood sir, I'll get on it." The officer responded.

"So now, the question is, is it the victim's gun or the perpetrator's?"

"We'll have to wait and see. It could be just coincidentally there."

Exiting the crime scene, Hikigaya felt a rumble in his jacket. Taking his iphone out, he just got a message. Taking a glance at it, he quickly put it back in his pocket.

"Is something up, Hikigaya?" Mr. Yamamoto asked.

"Nothing with urgent priority…. You need a ride or did you brought your own?"

"I have a car, you?"

"I took the metro, so yes. I do need a ride."

"Alright then, I guess…"

The two walked down the street, to the car. It was your standard modern black Toyota.

-x-

On the drive, they passed neon signs and holograms. Advertisements for various products docked the skyline. Zeppelins flew over the homes and businesses. Heck, the entire landscape was something you'll expect to see in modern and cyberpunk/post-cyberpunk works. The good news is that fashion isn't that ridiculous as some people think; it relatively looks modern and slightly different to fit the futurism. One of the most noticeable changes is that men started wearing hats and suits again. It was same with the atmosphere, it wasn't as dystopian like they thought and it was actually pretty clean.

The silence in the car was interrupted by Detective Yamamoto.

"Hikigaya, you see off today. Well more than usual." Yamamoto remarked.

Just some personal business, nothing more." answered Hikigaya.

"Well, okay then. As friends, if you need anything just asks, and you'll do the same for me."

"Heard you, loud and clear Yamamoto."

-x-

Hours later at the station…

The two had a board, charting the murder. Evidence, theories, suspects, and witnesses were noted. Detective Yamamoto made some phone calls to the relatives. The phone was ringing, and then a click happened.

"Hello, who is this?" asked the person on the other line.

"This is Detective Yamamoto. To whom am I speaking to?" Mr. Yamamoto replied.

"This is Ms. Kirigaya, why are you calling?"

"I'm afraid, that I will need you to come down to the station."

There was a dramatic pause.

"I'll be there right away."

She hanged up, and Mr. Yamamoto sat quietly leaning in his chair.

"I don't know how to break it to them." He murmured as he thought aloud. "I don't know how I would react in their position."

-x-

A few minutes later, Ms. Kirigaya came up to the front desk. Mr. Yamamoto walked up to her and talked to her in grim tone.

"Ms. Kirigaya, I presume?"

"Yes, did something happen?"

"I'm sorry to inform you, but we need you to identify your son's body."

At that moment Ms. Kirigaya was having a BSOD.

"Miss, I believe you should sit down."

The two sat at a bench, talking over what happened. It looked like she wanted to cry. She was going to call her husband and daughter about the news. After some time, the other two arrived at the station, and were given the full information they have about what happened. They were eventually shown to the Morgue. Removing the tarp over on the slab, it was Kira Kirigaya.

Hikigaya stood watching from a distance, as it was his case too. He didn't talk to them, as he wasn't much of a good speaker, and it might upset some people. He then heard the loudspeaker calling his name. He went to his office, and picked up the phone.

"This is Detective Hikigaya. To whom am I speaking to?" Hikigaya said answered the phone.

"Detective, this is Superintendent Yuigahama, Yui's father." Mr. Yuigahama responded.

"Oh, it's the Superintendent. How may I help you, sir?"

"It's about your homicide case; we may have some information that is related."

"Understood Sir, at what time and location we meet?"

"Tomorrow is good, well best of luck to you."

"Goodbye, sir."

When his hours were up, he punch-clocked his time, and left. There were personal things that needed him at the moment. This was going to be a long day for him.

Swedish Embassy

Hikigaya made some phone calls to the Swedish Embassy about making a meeting. They were able to schedule with him for the later afternoon. He got a lift from one of his fellow officers. In the wait room for 15 minutes, he was finally allowed to speak with him.

"Hello, I'm Ambassador Magnus Magnusson. How do you do, sir?" Magnusson greeted with his arm out.

"The name's Detective Hachiman Hikigaya." Hikigaya replied along with handshaking.

"Here, let's have a seat then."

"I will."

The two sat down in their respective chairs.

"So Detective, what can I do for you?"

"You see, ambassador. I'm looking for an old friend of mine in the region. A friend of hers came by my office, saying she lost contact with her."

Hikigaya then handed out a copy of Yukino shitas picture, along with her information.

"Her name is Yukino Yukinoshita. We're very worried about her."

"I understand. Our government will help look for her."

"Can you contact your counterparts in the rest of Baltoscandia?"

"I will detective. I will contact them about your missing friend."

Angel Ladder - Night

Hikigaya left the embassy, and was in need for a drink. He knew where to go, he had to take an elevator up the hotel to get to the place. He entered the bar and sat at the counter. Then the bartender walked up and greeted him. He was an old co-worker at the place, his name was Tetsuya, and he was a robot. Tetsuya looked like the Spectre drone from Titanfall.

"What will it be, Mr. Hikigaya?" Tetsuya asked.

"Just some scotch Tetsuya, I had a rough day."

"All right then."

Hikigaya looked to his back as Tetsuya got his drink. Over to a booth, there were a bunch of guys drinking and being merry. He overheard them saying in some language, he did not recognize. Tetsuya noticed Hikigaya looked over his shoulder at the table group. The guys were in business suits, and they were drunk.

"Those dudes are from the Korea."

Hikigaya shrugged.

"Strange, they taught Korean in my high school, I could have sworn I would have been able to understand them."

"It's probably a different dialect."

Hikigaya shrugged again and drank down his shot of scotch.

"Tell me, Hikigaya. Why do you always end up here?"

"Besides the fact I worked here when I was younger?"

"Yeah-" He was cut off.

"I also come back here to remember some things." He said with sad tone.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to go into your private life." Tetsuya responded and backed off.

"Can't a guy just go down with his sorrows?"

"Okay, I get it. That's too way in deep."

"My dad hates me for being a cop, instead of a lawyer, my boss hates my guts, and my eight ex-girlfriends have the same feeling." complained Hikigaya. "But we do have plenty of good hate sex though."

"Where the hell you get the time for eight girlfriends? You know what, never mind. Let's move on to a different subject."

"Alright, sorry…." He then took another sip.

Hayama walked into the bar, and sat next to Hikigaya. The blond haired man wore a black suit with matching shoes and a brown overcoat. Weirdly he wore sunglass aviators despite the fact it was already night.

"Hey." He announced.

"Hey." Tetsuya replied.

"Hey." responded Hikigaya, with a noticeable distaste in his tongue.

"So, what'll it be, Hayama?"

"Just some Gin please."

"Sure, thing."

Tetsuya began to get Hayama his drink.

"So how's it been, Hikigaya?" Hayama asked in a stepford manner.

"Uh, it's been bad, but with you it's terrible."

"How is it with you?"

"It's been pretty much the same."

"Anyway, I got a job I have to do. Can you help me fill in some blanks?"

"Alright, let me hear it."

"Do you know a girl by Araragi?"

Hayama looked surprised.

"You met her?"

"Yeah, something wrong?"

"Well, we never got along…."

"Ha, another girl rejected your advances.

Hikigaya lightly chuckled. "Now I know another person that hates your guts."

"Will you two refrain from further insults." Tetsuya ordered.

"Apologies."

"Sorry."

Taking a pause.

"But seriously though, she came by my office. It's about Yukinoshita."

Hayama looked confused while Hikigaya looked dead serious.

"That's strange, Yukinoshita called me yesterday. Saying she was fine."

"That's odd. …. I'll be looking into that."

Tetsuya got Hayama his drink.

"It isn't easy being a lawyer."

"It's the same with being a cop."

"But we agree on one thing, it isn't easy for us having judiciary jobs."

The two nodded in grimaced, and moved onto another subject.

"It's funny Hikigaya, that you share Aiden Pearce's fashion sense." Tetsuya remarked.

"Who is that?"

"Guy from Watch_Dogs, it's a video game from the States."

"Oh, really…. I'll go look into that later."

Tetsuya then turned on the television in the bar. It was an American football game.

"Who's playing?"

"It's London against Montreal."

"Huh really, that's interesting."

"Well alright then."

London was ahead of Montreal by seven points.

One of the Montreal quarterbacks had was running toward the field goal. He drifted right and left past the other players.

"He's going…. He's going…. He's going…." stated the announcer.

He reached the 5 yard line and then he reached the goal.

"And it's a touchdown!"

The Montreal crowd went wild. With the field goal, the two teams were tied now.

"Not much a fan of sports. But hey, it passes the time." Hikigaya remarked.

-x-

A bit while later…

Montreal had beaten London by a touchdown in the last quarter.

The guys at the bar drifted their attention back to conversation.

"What do you think about alternate universes?" Hikigaya asked.

"I don't think very much about them. It is possible they exist, but you can never be so sure." "Tetsuya how is it with you?"

"Right as of now I'll think it'll stay the same, so not too different. What about you Hikigaya?"

"Well I don't think I'll be some teacher or desk jockey, a runt, a cry baby, a sucker at math, and a guy with idiot or expressive hair."

"That's oddly specific."

"But I think I might be a blond in one universe or a woman…."

"You believe that, and yet there are a bunch of guys from TV-land sitting at a table behind you."

"You have a point. But considering I have relatives in Britain and France."

"Do you really? I never heard you did."

"Our family doesn't talk much about it."

"You got a new Virtual Reality Headset yet?"

"Not yet, but I plan to get another one soon."

"So Tetsuya, how do you play video games?"

"Isn't it obvious? I download it. There are still problems with my kind for some reason. Racist pricks."

"Now that I think about I think I saw some people from animeland…."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean have you noticed Ms. Araragi, looked certainly like a character from some light novel series. And then there's the other case I have…."

"Huh?"

"You know what, never mind about all that stuff, this is just getting too weird for me to handle."

"Are there any new games that are coming up?"

"Well there was that one based on an anime based on a light novel series." Hayama replied

"Ugh, don't mention that fucking piece of shit or whatever you call that fracking thing please. I got enough crap on my plate as it is." Tetsuya stated.

"What's wrong with the game?"

"Ignorance is Bliss. In Layman's terms, the entire series is an insult to anime."

"Why, isn't it popular right now?"

"Popular doesn't always mean good, you know."

"Fucking Weeboos and Otakus, they make Anime and Manga look bad."

"Okay, well alright then."

The three continued to talk throughout the night at the bar.

Meanwhile…

The scene is in a warehouse, in a shady spot in the city. Two groups of people were gathered together. One group had suits on, while the other looked like your generic hoodlums.

"You got the dough?" stated the apparent suit leader.

"You got the stuff?" countered the other leader.

The leader of the suits snapped his fingers, and his attendant got out him a suitcase and opened it for him. It contained a lot of money, and it was in American Dollars.

The other group opened up a briefcase with a lot of small bags. It was drugs, obviously enough. The two groups closed their briefcases and they slid their cases over to the side. When it looked like it was going to be done. A truck drove right into the place. The mobsters and gangbangers took out their guns and fired at the truck. Several rounds hit the front window and engine. The truck did not explode. A man got out unscratched; he wore a concealing helmet and was dressed in all black. He had a shotgun in his right hand, a Franchi SPAS-12 in fact. He began to shoot one handed at them. The criminals began to fire at him, but to no avail it did not hit the man. The figure fired into the mob, killing one, and scattered the others into cover. He continued to move forward was he fired at them. One by one they fell, it was a slaughter. All that was left in the mess, was the one man. He looked at the briefcases. He opened one to find it had the money, he closed it, and took it. Before he walked out, he noticed one of them was still moving. The man was trying to crawl away. Taking out his gun again, he fired a slug into the guy's head, and killed him. The masked man then left the building.

Author's Note One:

Hi, this is Rear Mirrors here with another Oregairu fanfic. This is a future fic mixed with a post-cyberpunk/biopunk/nanopunk? Idea I have. There's a good reason this is a crossover/x-over, which you'll see. I don't know much about how the Japanese judiciary system works, so I'm just going by some American ideas. Be sure to leave a review and message me about questions, I'll try to respond to them when I can. For some fun, you guys should try and guess the origins of the character names I mentioned, and attributes I give them.

And yes, there is American football in other countries. Until then, see you all later!
