Bedtime
Disclaimer: I don't own RWBY.
There were a lot of things Ruby loved about Blake. The glisten in her golden eyes whenever she was happy. The feeling of her silky black hair running through her fingers, the way her cat ears moved according to her emotions. Ruby could go on and on about all the things she loved about her girlfriend.
Unfortunately, there were also some some things that she didn't like. Like the fact that she constantly ran when faced with a problem, which made arguments quite difficult. Or how she would often sneak out, only to come back stinking like fish. In both cases, Blake would end up sleeping on the couch.
And then there was the fact that they had very different sleeping patterns. Ruby was very much a morning person. She would often wake up at around 6am-7am and utterly refuse to even attempt to go back to sleep. Blake was the exact opposite. When she had the option to sleep in, she would sleep until 10am-1pm. That in itself wouldn't be so bad, as Ruby could just go spend the morning doing something on her own.
Unfortunately, Blake got ridiculously clingy when she slept.
Which was Ruby's predicament at the moment. Once again, she found herself stuck in bed with her girlfriend's arms wrapped around her like the body of a King Taijitu. Not that she was suffocating or anything, Blake's grip wasn't that tight. But it was tight enough to keep Ruby firmly in place.
Now, since this was a normal occurrence, Ruby had prepared. She always had a few books and her scroll set aside so she could keep herself entertained while Blake slept. Usually.
Unfortunately, Ruby had just returned from a long hunt last night and immediately crawled into bed when she got home.
So, here she was, lying in bed, unable to move, with her scroll in her pack and no books within her reach.
Ruby was bored out of her mind. Watching Blake sleep was only entertaining for so long.
At least Ruby was able to shift position within Blake's death grip. If she was forced to lay on her back the entire time, she'd probably snap.
So she turned away from Blake to lay on her side, feeling Blake's arms shift with the movement. Suddenly, she noticed one of Blake's arms slowly lifting, letting go of her and plopping down on the other side of the bed as Blake lay on her back. It took Ruby a second to comprehend what had just happened.
"I'M FREE!" She yelled as she immediately jumped out of bed.
Only to stop midair and find herself hanging off the edge. "What the hell?!" Ruby turned her head to see what was obstructing her, and saw that Blake's other hand still maintained a firm grip on her pajama top. "Oh no. Oh no, no, no! I need...I need to take it off! Quickly, before she..."
But then she noticed that the hand was pulling her back onto the bed. As she got pulled back, she saw that Blake was laying on her side again, the arm that had just released her raised in the air. Ruby watched in horror as the arm descended upon her. "No! No! Noooooooooo!"

Blake's senses slowly returned to her as she woke up. She could hear the wind blowing outside, feel Ruby in her arms, smell the gentle scent of roses coming off of her.
Gradually, she opened her eyes, seeing her girlfriend laying on her back, already wide awake, as always.
"Good morning," she said happily.
Ruby turned to her, a mixed look of annoyance and hostility in her eyes. "Your sleeping on the couch tonight!"
