I guess this is the part where I tell you that I don't own the characters. I wish I did, but Dick Wolf won't share.
I haven't had much time to think this story through - the idea came to me and I typed this up in 5 minutes. Hope it's okay. :D
I'm going to marry that woman.' the thought slipped unbidden into Bobby's mind and he dwelled on it for a few moments. He had known it for some time, but as he watched her take the first sip of coffee that he had bought her, and the look of pleasure crossed her face, he felt himself falling in love once again. Alex look at him from across the table they were seated at, and smiled.
"What are you grinning about?" she asked, still grinning herself. Bobby stared for a second before covering her hand with his.
"Just thinking of what a beautiful girlfriend I have. And wondering why she chose me when she could've had any man in the world."
Bobby noticed a flicker of concern in her hazel eyes. He thought she might admonish him for implying that he was less than desirable, but instead she responded with the sarcasm he had come to love and expect in her.
"Because you can reach things that are to high for me." she said matter-of-factly. "And you're cute." she added as if it had been an afterthought. Bobby chuckled and turned back to his own coffee.
They sat in comfortable silence until it was time to make the short distance from the diner to their offices at 1PP. When Alex kissed him briefly before getting into the drivers seat of the SUV, Bobby remembered again the thought that had crossed his mind. Yes, he was going to marry her. And the sooner the better, if he could help it. It was far past time to do something about it.
