A/N: Long time since I've uploaded anything. About a year I think. TT_TT But anyway, this is just a little something I wrote for a class. It doesn't follow the story line of Alien. It's really short, but I think I might add onto it later. I'd like to know what you think about that. Anyhow, enjoy.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Alien. However, Jamie, Ghost, and Purgatory are mine.
Futuristic Failure
The klaxon blared and red emergency lights flashed as I sprinted down the cold metal corridor. Ghost, my captain, had contacted us through our comm. links shouting General Quarters. Dodging my fellow crewmates and the painful knee knockers, I raced to my station: The ship's internal space-drive.
"Jamie, I need those Ion shields up now!" The master pilot, Purgatory shouted, his voice erupting through my comm. link. Tapping my badge, I acknowledged him.
Scrambling with the wires and switches, I brought the Ion shields online. After going over emergency protocol and checking the systems, I let myself relax just a hair.
"Jamie, you need to get- " Purgatory's voice suddenly cut off and I received static. My heart began to race madly. I had no idea what was going on. And I was alone.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and walked over to lock the door. I looked at the keypad and blinked, my mind too muddled to tell which keys were which. The numbers bore into my eyes and brain, just tempting me to enter the wrong code.
I quickly shook my head, chasing the thought away, and punched in the seven-digit code. 5-9-2-1-3-4-0…The door gave a soft hiss and began to slide shut, albeit slowly.
The door had almost closed when black skeletal fingers suddenly appeared in the gap, gripping the metal framing. I backed up, chest squeezing tight as my breathing heavily increased. Slowly, the door was pushed back open, gears grinding on gears, and the arm the black hand was attached to slid through the opening with ease.
Sweat beaded my skin as I fumbled for my photon pistol and the creature, black as night and glistening, continued to slide through the gap of the protesting door. I pulled my pistol out just in time to see the creature lunge at me. The creature's weight and momentum sent me flying to the floor, knocking my pistol out of my hand.
My body seemed paralyzed. I stared at the creature and slowly quickly took in its features. It had a large banana-shaped head, eyeless with massive jaws and daggers for teeth. Its body was humanoid, protected by its black exoskeleton and long, sharp claws on its thin skeleton hands. I noticed its tail, long and lashing was tipped with a black and glossy blade. The creature was a xenomorph. A parasitic alien that lived within and fed on the flesh of other beings.
Swallowing, I stared at its grinning jaws and gasped when they slowly parted, revealing another mouth behind its teeth. My blood ran cold at the sight of it slowly inching toward my face. As xenomorph hissed, fine putrid mist expelled from its mouth as saliva dripped from its jaws. My scream went unheard as the xenomorph's second mouth shot toward my face.
"SIMULATION OVER! YOU ARE DEAD!" The bold red words shouted as I threw off the visual helmet and screamed. "Dead!? Again?!" I unstrapped the virtual gloves and threw them down at the floor. "Argh! Stupid, stupid, freaking stupid!"
Purgatory came up beside me and patted my shoulder, laughing and grinning at the same time. "Don't worry, Jamie. You'll kill the big, bad bug eventually."
I hissed at him as he walked off down the hall. Had I been a cat, my hackles would've been raise and my fur stuck out on end. I picked up the helmet and chucked it down the corridor, satisfied with the loud thwack and his painful yelp.
