"Hey Al, is that Winry's house over there?"
"Yes, Brother," Al replied for the tenth time in the last minute. Al's seemingly endless supply of patience was running out.
"Great. I'm not dreaming," Ed groaned.
Al sighed.
When the brothers took one step onto Rockbell property, a wrench flew at the speed of light (Al swore he saw the object hit Ed's head first and heard the dull "thunk" afterwards) and raised a sizeable bump on Ed's forehead.
"Ed! What'd you break this time? You could've at least called first!" Winry demanded from the doorway.
"I didn't break anything!" Ed protested. Yet, Al added silently. "We were following a lead that takes us through here, so we thought we'd say 'hi,'" Ed humphed.
"…You sure you didn't break anything?" Winry approached Ed and reached for his automail arm to inspect it.
"Positive!" Ed jerked his arm away. "Come on, Winry. I don't wanna have my nerves disconnected and reconnected today; it hurts like heck!"
"Relax, Ed, a check-up won't hurt a bit. Now hold still!" Winry hit Ed again.
"Ow! 'Won't hurt a bit?' Let's go, Al. I must have a couple of screws loose wanting to come here."
Winry looked insulted, then smiled mischievously. "A couple of screws loose? Let me tighten them for you!" She tackled the unsuspecting Ed and put one knee on his shoulder so she could look at his arm.
"Argh! Darn it! Let go, Winry!" Ed flailed around helplessly.
"No way, Ed! Not till I find those loose screws!"
"What? It's just a saying! Augh!"
"Aw, it's so cute the way you two flirt," Al commented happily. Luckily for him, the "flirters" in question were too busy fighting to hear.
"WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HAPPENING?" Pinako roared from the doorway. All commotion stopped as the three teens slowly turned to their granny. Winry was now on top of Ed, suggesting a…awkward situation to a random passerby.
"Oh, I'm just checking Ed's automail," Winry replied innocently, clamping a hand over her victim's mouth so he couldn't complain. Al was grinning widely, but of course, no one could tell, so he was safe.
"Then at least do it inside!" Pinako retreated into the house, vaguely amused.
"Come on then," Winry said, getting up to follow.
"Fat chance!" Ed yelled as he ran in the other direction, only to be stopped by Al. "What the—?"
"Brother, the house is that way," Al chided as he gripped Ed's shoulders and steered the latter after Winry.
"Crap! Not you too!"
A few hours later, Winry finished her check-up. Ed had only gotten hurt when his head made contact with her wrench (seven times, according to Al).
"Alright, all done!" Winry replaced the last bolt on Ed's leg.
"Thank goodness!" Ed tested his metal limbs out and then headed to the door. "Thanks, Winry. Come on Al, let's hit the road."
"You'd better not hit anything, or you'll break my automail!" Winry warned.
Ed grinned. "Then I should hit things more often, because then I get to see you more. Later, Winry!"
When Winry finally realized what Ed had just said, the Elric brothers had already left.
A/N: Eck...the writing seemed awkward at parts, yeah? But I can't think of any other way to phrase it...that, and I just got back from China yesterday so I'm suffering a tiny bit of jet lag. But I survived so I could post stories! So review for me...please? :D
