Prologue
Disclaimer: I don't own Hikaru No Go.
"Saeki!" a low male voice bellowed. A young boy came running down the stairs of the two-story house. A chandelier hung from the ceiling, and the stairs were made of ebony.
"Daddy!" the boy cried excitedly.
"Hey, kiddo," Saeki's father said, "I've got something for you,".
"What is it Daddy?" Saeki asked, his deep green eyes shining with curiosity. "It's a goban, Saeki. People play go on it,".
"What's go?".
"It's a very fun, very easy to learn game that people have played for 4,000 years,".
"4,000 years?" Saeki repeated with amazement. "People have been alive for that long?".
"Even longer," Saeki's father replied warmly.
"Wow!" Saeki exclaimed. "But how do you play go? You said it was simple, but that doesn't mean I can play without knowing how,"
"I'll tell you right now. You see these stones in the bowls?" Saeki's father explained while setting up the board and sitting down, motioning for Saeki do the same. "You take them and put them on the places where the lines cross. If you put you stones like this," Saeki's father showed, putting the black stones in a diamond and a white stone in the middle, "Then you can take the stone in the middle, and place it in your agehama," Saeki's father said, placing the stone likewise. "Black and white take turns playing stones on the board, and when the game is done, you count up how much territory there is," he continued, "For example, this spot in the middle of the diamond is one point of territory. Whoever has more territory wins. The last rule is ko. This means that if I take a stone, and then you can take my stone, then you have to wait a turn and play somewhere else before you can take it back," he finished.
"That's it?" Saeki said, surprised. "I thought it would be harder,".
"Nope, that's all there is to it. So want to play?" Saeki's father said, smiling slightly. His legacy just might continue after all, he thought, while Saeki placed a black stone on the board, taking his first step down the path to becoming a go master.

Author's Note
Yeah, I know, kind of short. But it's a prologue, and that just seemed like a good place to end the chapter. The next chapter is coming soon, so be on the lookout.
