Hey guys! So this is my first ever Degrassi fan fic! I absolutely loved the Dratie relationship, so I just wanted to start writing for them. This is my view on the future of their relationship during prom! I hope you all like it. This may be a one-shot, or it may be a full blown fan fic! Please review with your thoughts! Also, check out my Glee fanfics, if you watch that!

Tonight was the night where dreams come true. Finally Katie Matlin could take a breath and enjoy her life. These past three months have been complete pressure. The school newspaper was going great even after letting Clare Edwards join. She actually had tons of great ideas and they even saw eye to eye on most things. Drew even began writing the sports section and he was actually a great writer. He eventually started calming down and seeing a therapist. Their afternoon martial arts sessions were helping too.

Katie smiled to herself in the mirror. She admired the strong, helpful and smart girl she was. It wasn't her being conceited, it was her actual personality. She was so happy she could help Drew out. She genuinely liked him. He was sweet, funny and cute. Now he was going to take her to prom where she would dance the night away with him.

She finished the last touches to her hair with her curling iron. She smoothed out her light blue dress and did a quick makeup check. Her silver heels were laying by her bedroom door. She gently slid her foot into the heel and buckled the straps around her ankle. Gently, she opened her door and walked down the stairs grabbing her clutch and cell phone off of the banister.

Katie's mother was standing at the bottom of the steps with Drew. They were talking about the weather until Katie arrived at the midway point of the stairs. Drew's mouth was open wide and her mother had tears in her eyes.

"You look…stunning, Katie." Drew said as she finished her walk down the steps. She gave him a small smile. His light blue tie matched with her dress and his hair was spiked as usual. His blue eyes looked from her hair to her shoes, taking her in.

"Thank you, Drew." She said with a bright blush creeping in to color her cheeks.

Her father and mother took pictures of them both in front of the house. The sun was beginning to set and the limo had pulled up to her house. Drew took her hand and opened the door for her. She crawled inside and sat by her best friend, Marisol. They giggled with their dates and drove to the school to make their grand entrance.

The school was packed and the music was already playing with a loud beat. Katie and Drew immediately started dancing together.

"We're going to slow it down for you tonight, kids. Here's the song, 'An Island Now' by Canvas Waiting."

The kids in the gym started to cheer as the song changed to a slow beat. Katie wrapped her arms around Drew's neck. She laid her head against his chest as the began to slowly turn in a circle.

"I'm so happy right now." She whispered into his neck as she closed her eyes. He pulled her closer to him.

"I am too. You've been amazing to me. You're truly an angel." He said as he kissed her head.

Breathe easy love you've made it now

Stand tall and proud on your rusty bow

No the sight of land won't let you down

when the fog has cleared,

I'm an island now

I was blind to think you'd always be

bold enough to stay close to me

When the rain came down you were washed away

I'm an island now in the open sea

But its ok

Cause I fall asleep with dignity

And you're safe,

cause you filled the hole before it was empty

And I can write you off,

but give me back my faith in love

"I only did it because…I care about you, Drew." She said as she lifted her head off his chest to look him in the eyes. He gave her a small smile before rubbing her back with his hand.

"I love this song." Katie said after the long silence that had followed her last statement.

"I love you." Drew said as he leaned down to kiss her.

"I love you too, Drew."
