Of Ladies and Dragons
Sheva had only ever heard rumors of Chris before she worked with him. She had heard stories about him telling of his characteristics. All of them sounded like they belonged to a fairy tale prince.
She always wondered if there was a princess to those.
It was when she met him that she realized that there was, or had been. Chris used to have a partner by the name of Jill Valentine. They had been working together for nearly a decade. Sheva could tell that Jill and Chris' relationship went beyond just partners.
Sheva asked no questions about his old partner, not wanting to drag up anything uncomfortable for him.
When Chris saw the picture of Jill, he completely changed. He was set on finding out what had happened to her.
Sheva couldn't help but ask, "What happened to your partner?"
Chris' face turned into a picture of anger and sorrow as he retold the event. Sheva could see how much pain he was in from the loss.
Sheva, though she wouldn't admit it, didn't believe Jill was alive. After what she had seen, no one was safe from Uroboros. Even someone like Jill.
He came to be a bit annoying, Chris. She came bored with his constant question, "Where's Jill?" The Prince called out for his Princess. He asked it everytime he saw Excella, and she of course said nothing.
She stood, smirking, and the bird-like woman was still behind her.
Sheva couldn't help but agree when Excella said, "You're like a broken record, you know that?"
It was later, after lowering the bridge in the ruins, Sheva's thoughts proved to be wrong.
Upon confronting Excella, Chris asked again in a loud voice, "Dammit! Where's Jill?" Excella had laughed. Loyalty was nothing to her.
When the dragon named Wesker unhooded Jill, Chris was almost speechless. He had lowered his gun, and spoke her name. "Jill... Jill! It's me! Chris!"
She attacked. She had been transformed into something other than a princess. She was the dragon's flame, and he, the dragon, was proud of it. He lorded his new power over the prince.
Once Jill was free of the firey red gem on her chest, she returned to normal.
Once on the helicopter, the dragon slain, Sheva curled in on herself. The Prince, Chris, was holding his princess in his arms, dreaming of a happy ending. In this story, Sheva was no more than a lady in waiting.
