Counting Tears Like Raindrops

She always heard that – as time passed - things would get easier. She knew now that it was a lie. Things didn't get easier, they only became more difficult.

The blonde stood, her eyes focused on the millions of raindrops falling, colliding with wood and stone. She closed her eyes, nostalgia washing over her - like the rain washed the earth. She remembered when things were simple. She longed for the days when life was easier, when she was free and happy and there was no war or death or worry. She craved the nights when she could sleep without waking in the night – shaking, anxious over her husband and son. What chance did they have, really? Death and darkness surrounded them, every day of their lives.

All she wanted was to be seventeen again, madly in love, with her entire life before her. Instead, she was alone – her husband was working for the Dark Lord and Draco was away at school. Instead, she counted her tears like the rain drops, wondering just how many days they had left.
