Hello! Bloody prelims, kept me off here for ages, that and my own laziness. But no matter, I'm back now and full of good ideas!

Don't own 'em. Meh

Keep going. Keep going. The thought drummed through Sarah Jane Smith's head as she lead the rebellion up the scaffolding. Kaleds and Mutos came scrambling up behind her, all desperate to escape the Thal rocket.

They were getting higher and higher, the ground was getting smaller and smaller and the scaffolding was getting harder and harder to climb. Already tired from her stint on the rocket, Sarah grew more exhausted the higher they got. Gunshots rang out all around, and Kaleds and Mutos fell to the ground as the bullets made them stop. If they hadn't died from the gunshot, they would certainly die in the fall. Twice, Sarah had almost been shot, and the second one had killed the Kaled guard she has become friends with.

Exhausted, Sarah stopped for a few seconds. Then she looked down at the ground and froze. She had only looked at the ground from this height once before. That fateful July day in 1964, when her best friend, Andrea Yates, had fallen victim to her own sense of mischief.

Sarah never really understood what happened. She had been looking at the sea from the viewpoint, and out of the corner of her eye she had seen Andrea come over to the rail and lean against it.

She had subconsciously known it was going to happen. But it had felt like she was frozen and couldn't move. She saw the rail give way and Andrea slip over the side. Then time came back into operation, and she flew across to where Andrea had fallen. She was clinging onto the side, screaming. Sarah had immediately tried to give her a hand up but she was too small and couldn't reach without falling in herself.

Then she saw Andrea's fingers slip off the rail, and could only watch in horror as she fell into the sea below.

Transported back to the present by the arrival of Sevrin, Sarah realised that she had to keep climbing. She might have lost Andrea but she wasn't going to give up on her. She would keep fighting, and when she won, it would be because of Andrea. A life had already been pointlessly lost, but as far as she could, she was going to prevent that.
