"I'll just be hanging round the mistletoe, hoping to be kissed."
"You're such a dork," Buffy laughed, shaking her head. "No one's going to kiss you."
"Oh yeah? You really think so?" Dawn challenged.
"I know so."
"Watch and learn, Buffy. You're going to be surprised."
Dawn made her way to the mistletoe and stood, sipping her glass of sparkling cider and glancing at all the partygoers.
"That's a beautiful dress, love," a British voice acknowledged.
The twenty-year-old turned and nearly screamed when she saw Spike staring at her.
"What... what are you doing here? Buffy will see you!"
"I know," he smiled, "but I don't care. I wanted to see you all prim and propered up in that gorgeous strapless of yours. And I thought it'd be fun to do some dressing up of my own. Fancy my tux?" He was wearing a white shirt with black coattails and a little black bowtie.
"It's... it's nice. Not something I thought I'd ever see you in... but nice. Now get out of here before Buffy looks over here and..."
"Love, calm down. The Slayer won't ever know I'm here."
Dawn glanced at the green plant above her and cleared her throat. "Spike?"
He followed her eyes and nodded in revelation. "You want to pucker up and get down with the smoochies? With everyone watching? Even Big Sis?"
"Well... Buffy thinks no one will kiss me."
"Then let's prove her wrong, shall we?"
"But if she sees you..."
Her words were interrupted by Spike's lips on hers. She relaxed and wrapped her arms around him, forgetting about the party and everyone there.
After a few minutes they disconnected, and Dawn couldn't help but smile. "That was nice," she giggled.
"You're a great kisser, pet."
"You're not so bad yourself, Blondie."
Spike was lost in her eyes. "Can we stop hiding our relationship now?"
"Relationship?!" The couple turned and saw Buffy standing angrily with her arms crossed.
"Hi Buffy." Dawn plastered on a fake smile. "Surprise?"
"Slayer. Good to see you again."
"Spike... you're sleeping with my sister?"
"Course not, love! We're just dating."
"And kissing," Buffy fumed.
"But no more than that. Look, she's not ready to take it to the next level. And I respect that. And you know how much I respect Nibblet. I'd never hurt her, and I'd never force her to do anything she didn't want to do."
"He's right," Dawn added quietly. "Spike wanted to tell you about us, he really did... but I didn't want you to know. So he kept quiet, for me."
Buffy looked between them and sighed. "Well Dawn, you're an adult... so it's none of my business who you date. Although it really wigs me out, you know."
"I understand. So can Spike come over for Christmas?"
"Do vampires celebrate Christmas?"
Spike smiled. "Not all. Some celebrate Hanukkah. But me? I'm a Christ-loving demon."
The two Summers women stared at Spike.
"What?" he wondered.
