Someone Else
Drabble
She's different, Dean Winchester thinks to himself as he stares at the naked - but covered - Ruby as she slept. Yeah, he told her to knock it off when he caught her staring at him, but this...this was weird, this was wrong. Okay, so her bedroom skills are still the same - and man does Dean know that little fact - but...she's different. Changed. Not like she used to be. It's like, her character changed along with her face. Dean reached over and lightly grabbed some of her now-brown locks. Not as beautiful and silky as her old blond hair used to be. He used to love her hair, he'd take every opportunity he could to run his hands through those locks. Her blue eyes used to light up the room - what the Hell is up with all this pansy and mushiness? - wherever she'd go; her eyes still make him weak in the knees, yes, but...it's different. Almost everything about her is; and most not in a good way.
Dean realizes why he doesn't love this Ruby as much as he used to; 'cause she's not the Ruby he used to know and love. She's changed. Changed in so many ways that it hurt him dearly. He wishes that that old, blond Ruby could come back; because she was the girl Dean fell in love with. Love! Now, that's a pretty huge deal with Dean! He closed his eyes, wishing that, when he'd open them, that he'd see the old Ruby sleeping soundly next to him, a soft smile that always was on her face when she'd sleep. She'd always have a smile on her face when she slept - not kidding.
Dean smiled at this memory, but when he opened his eyes, that smile fell. In front of him was, well, Ruby. A light frown was on her lips and her eyebrows were drawn down, her brown hair all over the place. Suddenly, her eyes opened, and her brown eyes were staring at him. She smiled, but that smile - for one reason or another - did not reach her eyes. To humor her, Dean let his lips pull themselves into a smile - but it did not light up his eyes like it used to when he was with old Ruby.
"Knock off that creepy staring, will ya? You're creeping me out." She said softly, using the same words Dean had used when he had caught her.
He lightly chuckled and let his hand reach up and plant itself on her cheek. She stiffened slightly - and even though he knew that she didn't want him to see her stiffen, he did. But he keep that little piece of information to himself; that little pang he felt in his heart to himself.
"Very funny, Rubs." He whispered to her, reaching over to plant a small kiss on her mouth. When he leaned away, he let his thumb run circles on her cheek; he hoped this would make her relax more.
She stiffened even more. That smile of hers weakened, turning nervous as her eyes darted around the room, looking everywhere but at him as if she was scared of him.
And that pang in his heart?
It grew worse.
Silent Knight: Aww, poor Deanie! I wish I could just give him a hug now! :'(
Anyway, review please; let's me know if I should continue writing here or not. Boosts up my confidence, too. Trust me, I'm running out of confidence.
Silent Knight over and out!
