warning: spoiler for retrace 92

a/n1: It has been a year since I last write and look at how messy this is. When I read the last chapter of Pandora Hearts I just felt like I had to write something for this pairing even if it's short. I cried once again remembering what happened to Break and I tried to write this thinking how hard it would be for Sharon after all that.

a/n2: Enjoy!

This is a work of fanfiction, simply written for the purpose of enjoyment and entertainment. I gain no financial profit from writing this.

It was still dark when she opened her eyes. It wasn't because she woke up too early; she couldn't sleep, is all. She breathed in deeply, exhaled, inhaled, repeat.

How many sleepless nights has it been? She lost count.

She sat up and stared at the window. It was open. She insisted to let it open every night, hoping she would hear something to calm her down and help her sleep just like how it had always been.

She approached the window and leaned forward, closed her eyes and rested her head on the rail.

She began to hum.

A melodic tune ... warm and distant. A familiar tune she'd listen to on her sleepless nights before.

'No matter how long I wait, that sweet tune will never return to me. I know it well...' she thought to herself.

It was so silent, not even wind breeze would come to accompany her tonight. It was just her.

It was lonely. It's too much on her.

She missed him, she wouldn't say she wished everything had never happened. That would be too selfish of her. Despite all the casualties, this world is saved. Break led Oz and the others the way. If he didn't do that, he probably would still have some energy left.

Break did the right thing, Sharon wouldn't disagree.

Her song ended. She didn't bother to repeat the song for the second time.

She opened her eyes and noticed a trail of tears on her cheeks. She didn't realise she had been crying. She wiped them away with her sleeves, but the more she wipe the more tears roll down. It wouldn't stop.

She quickly closed the window and pulled the curtains. Kneeling down, she lamented.

There was no reason to keep her window open anymore, the one she's waiting for wouldn't return. There wouldn't be any soft tune to soothe her on her nights anymore. Break wouldn't be there to sing for her.

The nights would be lonely.

There would only be her and sleepless nights.

End.
