Two things to say in this Author's note besides the disclaimer that sadly no I do not own Harry Potter, first I'm looking for a beta for one of my stories, as my current beta bailed on me and I would like to post it. Secondly this story was a challenge by a friend of mine to see if I could write angst as she didn't like my fluffy stories. Please review and let me know how I did. Non-Betaed

Unforgiven

Narcissa looked over the tombstones that littered the graveyard she had not dared show her face here before for they would all wonder what was she doing at the grave of James Potter. She knew even now she shouldn't be here but she had to have some sort of closure even if that meant talking to a cold tombstone.

Finding the stone, she looked down, and as the tears started to fall freely, spoke softly. "James, its been to far to long in my coming here. I should have told you when you were alive, I should even tell my family now." Narcissa then paused before continuing. "But no they would not understand and Draco loves Lucius and Lucius loves Draco for they do not know the sin I committed all those years ago. They do not know that Lucius is not Draco's father and that Voldermort took the father of two sons that night at Godricks hollow. Narcissa then dropped down to her knees clutching at her chest. "James I'm so sorry, I should have told Draco that you were his father. Harry and He could have fought along side each other as brothers just as Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin did in their early years, instead I let our blood pride destroy that bond it even had a chance to grow."

Draco had followed his mother wanting to keep her safe from attack while in the graveyard and as he stood hidden behind one of the tombstones he couldn't believe his ears as to what his mother was saying. He had for all his life grown up a Malfoy, raised in their rules and understandings but within moments it had all shattered around him. He was in fact a Potter and half brother to his rival. 'Why didn't she tell anyone?' He asked before his Slytherin mind gave him the answer 'She would have been outcast to the streets, and you as well. Lucius does not play second fiddle to anyone, He even went against Voldermort to protect his family.' Draco then released a breath. Lucius had gone against Voldermort to protect hm and his mother and Lucius wasn't even his father. Draco then listened again to his mother as she spoke to the grave.

"James, I know you were with Lilly and what we had could never last, but what you gave me has made me the happiest woman of all time as Draco is my son and he is more like you than even he will know." Narcissa then smiled as her eyes glanced over to the large tombstone where Draco stood hidden within shadow. "Right now, he is even here watching over me just as you did on several occasions ensuring my safety. James can you ever forgive me for not telling you?" Narcissa said with a heavy heart. "Draco you can come out, I know you are there." She stated to the shadows.

Draco knew he had been discovered and walked to his mother. "I am not a Malfoy." The question was delivered as fact and was a statement not a question as he walked to his aging mother, he stood proud at twenty five and with the stature of a Malfoy that he had been raised with but now he knew to be a lie. "Mother, how you could you lie to me all these years, how could you lie to father? He risked his life, and you don't have the common decency to even tell him the truth?" Draco then looked at the tombstone then back to his mother. "I do hope James Potter forgives you, for I know I can not." Draco then turned from his mother and walked into the shadows letting the soft cries of his mother drift away on the midnight wind.
